Many many states not sure if it's all or not got a federal grant to give rebates to buy new appliances. Check your state's page or google and search your state to see if there is one. My mom combined our local electric company's rebate with the states for a cool $300 off her new washer & dryer set!

I need a new washer and at Lowe's they told me that if you weren't the very first people on the very first day to send theirs in - I would not be getting a rebate. Each state was allowed just a certain amount of money and he was sure it would run out the very first day. The Energy Star washers were MUCH higher than what I wanted to spend.

Not only do they have to be Energy Star, it's also only for certain brands &/or models. And of course, they're usually the more expensive ones. :(

on a new washer and dryer. Perfect timing because my 3 year old washer went on a total blink. Yes, only 3 years old. It was a GE Profile. Very bad washer and dryer. Terrible problems with it. Stay away from that brand of washer and dryer. The appliance store said they have had lots of problems with that brand.
When the Fed rebate was offered in AZ, the money was gone in a few hours. I logged on to the computer and phone at 6am sharp. Phone was busy, busy, busy. Kept refreshing my computer. Then finally 1 and 1/2 hour later, I finally got in.
