for a very special young girl, she is 17 and her name is Michelle. I have called her "Chicklet" since I first met her about 12 years ago. She was always tiny and sweet and she and her Dad became my steady customers at the restaurant that I work at. It was always the 2 of them, sometimes with her older sister and Mom. Great family and we became good friends. In December, she had surgery and chemo. Early this month, Joe (Dad) emailed me and told me her cancer was back and they gave her under 6 months. She is in a wheelchair now and they are saying more like 2 months. They just did her Make A Wish this week-end. I was completely disappointed when I heard from her sister that she really wanted to meet Ellen Degeneris but was told she didn't "do" Make A Wish. At any rate, her second choice was to meet the "Cake Boss" and that she did do and was thrilled! She went by limo with her family to the bakery and sat with Buddy for the 2 hours she was there while together they crafted the top of a "Lost" show themed cake. Joe called me Thursday night and asked me to come on Sat. to the fire house in town for the cake ceremony. The staff from the "Cake Boss" delivered the cake, posed for pics with Michelle and actually served the cake. Michelle was in the marching band at school and they were all there, serenading her. It was a beautiful thing, Make A Wish was amazing and that young lady smiled from ear to ear. Please say some prayers for beautiful, brave Michelle and her family. She is in pain from all of the tumors and she doesn't complain. Also, please say some prayers for her sister and parents, I cannot imagine how they will cope with this huge loss. The week before her last surgery in April, was her prom. I am so pleased she was able to go and those wonderful kids in her school voted her Prom Queen. Several of the girls shaved their heads when she lost her hair. She is loved by many.
