3|1|Our machine was new in August. Had to have the repair guy out a few times because of this. They say that since it is one of these power savers (or whatever they all are now) they don't use as much water and because of that an the type of water we have you have to use less detergent. The packets don't work. I have to get the liquid and use only 2/3 of what it says. Since I switched I have not had these problems. |RobinsCrazyWorld|robinmarie72@gmail.com|12:14:59|04/22/2010|

problem and he asked if I used them. I said I did. He said stop! Don't use them. They clog up the system and they aren't good for the dishwasher at all and slowly ruin the washer. I haven't used them since then 5|2|Thanks all I have a ton of the boxes anyone want them |STEVE|STEVBOLT@WMIS.NET|15:14:30|04/22/2010|

plumbers. They told my mom that years ago and I too have been told that in the past as the powder detergent builds up in the lines (think like plaque in arteries..builds up pver time till it clogs it totally shut). Best thing to do is use liquid and very little of that. Most everyone uses waaayy more detergent in clothes than what you need. Even the instructions on the bottles are just meant (of course!) to make you use up detergent quicker so you have to buy more. Even the liquid from detergent and softner as well can build up on the washer drum..you can see it. I had that pointed out to me some years ago by a couple of repair guys. Those of you with the new front loader washers know that just a little bit goes a long way already. :) I am still in the 'dark ages' with a top loader so it's important to know these things :)

A few years back, my kitchen drain stopped flowing. Had someone come check it out. They tried to clear the pipes with air. Ended up blowing the pipes to pieces from the pressure so it was Roto Rooter to the rescue! Hundreds of dollars later my drain was clear and all was well until a couple of years later my washer backed up into the shower in the basement. After trying every drainage solution known to man, it was once again my Roto Rooter hero to the rescue. The clog from my washer was so bad it completely backed up the entire septic and drainage system to the house. Because we have a basement, our septic tank had to be dug up and drained in order to reach the end of the pipes where the clog had settled. Thousands of dollars and a destroyed yard later, life was again good. Until, you guessed it, this past winter, our kitchen drain clogged again. Without hesitation, I called Roto Rooter to wash my troubles away. I thought that by now Roto Rooter was like family, so I left the plumber alone in the house to do what was necessary. Hours later, I realized his truck was there, but he wasn't to be found! Alas! My hero had left my the kitchen and was in the bathroom in the basement! I nervously asked what was wrong and he calmly replied " I've never seen a clog this bad." Before the day had ended, my kitchen pipes were apart, the toilet in the basement bathroom adorned my bedroom, the shower was full to the rim with some funky brown water and there was an unidentifiable odor lurking in every room of the house. Just before night, I heard a terrifying scream from the basement with an order to turn off the water main. I quickly did that and ran to see the problem, only to find myself ankle deep in blue water that had drained from the upstairs toilet! Mr. Roto Rooter said, "I've never seen a clog like this," packed his tools and left us in a stinky wet house wtih no water. The next day a worker came and fixed the problem How a clogged kitchen drain created such chaos I'll never know. But the moral of the story ( according to the plumber) "powder dish detergent creates a concrete like clog in the pipes."
