3|3|Usually you can contact ancestry and tell them that the info is incorrect, sometimes people put in wrong info, or some records are vague, so they just guess the name or date. I know my SIL 's middle name listed on there isn't her real middle name, but when I found her birth certificate, I figured out why, the writing is real sloppy, her real middle name is Lou but they had it down as Lon and it does look like Lon. ~*~|RebekkaVA|queen_vulture@msn.com|11:58:03|04/09/2010|

my dh's side of the family His real grandfathers name was always ke[t a secret till his grandma was passing away but we are not sure if what we are being told from dh's father is correct 5|5|I'm thinking you can find out his first name by searching for his marriage license to your dh's grandmother. If you have her first name and maiden name, you should be able to find out :) Also if you have a name to go by for the grandfather, see if you can check it in the social security death index, you may be able to figure it out there :)|RebekkaVA|queen_vulture@msn.com|12:48:47|04/09/2010|

They never married and there is a good chance he never knew she was pregnant as we were told he was in the service but when we try and talk to Dh's Dad we get bits n pieces so it's a mystery lol I found someone with the name we were given but in the 1920 census it was the last name we were told but in the 1930 one it was different I did find a death date for who I believe is the man but thats about it 7|7|It's so hard when it's a mystery, my hubby's family is like that and so many secrets, but I've uncovered some, it takes me time, but I've found alot of interesting things that we thought we never would. LOL. My best friend says I should become a private eye..LOL.. I wish I was more help to you...Have you tried Cyndi's list? Search it on google, there's tons of info there too..Can you look up your dh's father's birth certificate? Could the father of your dh's father be listed? REMEMBER THAT THE CENSUS WAS HAND WRITTEN AND MOST OF WHAT YOU SEE ON ANCESTRY, IS THE INTERPRETATION OF WHAT SOMEONE THOUGHT IT SAID.....YOU CAN UNDERSTAND THAT IF YOU LOOK AT THE ACTUAL COPIES OF THAT ON THERE...THE WRITING ISN'T ALL THAT CLEAR.......

Just am real confused as DH's Dad gave us a name and I found one that would match but then that name just vanished and so I posted a iso info post and that is when I got the different name and then found the whole family on the 1930 census and then the death record for the guy with the new name no I can understand the writing being crappy but that would not explain getting the wrong name in the begining of course unless it was a made up name it's frustrating 9|1|Tina, try this site as well.
