I'm so stinking mad at myself....

I live in MA and as you all know we had some horrible rain....anyway, last night coming home from a dentist appointment there was a large puddle in the middle of the road, but seriously there was no way of me knowing how deep it was and the road wasn't closed, so I just slowed down and went carefully through it, only to get stuck in the middle, I was finally able to get through, and get home, but my car was making odd noises, so this morning I brought it to my dh friend's autoshop...the result.....the engine is totally shot.....I had to put in a claim and the adjuster is supposed to be going to the shop within the next five business days to assess the damage....

UGH>....I can't believe this...I just bought my 2007 Corolla brand new back in the end of 2007 and only have $4800 left to pay on it....it only has 22,000 (or I should say had) miles on it.....

Please wish me luck that the adjuster is reasonable and comes soon so that I can get this situation handled quickly and as easily as possible.

Thanks all! 1|1|Oh no I am so sorry to hear this Kelly...(((HUGS)))~*~|RebekkaVA|queen_vulture@msn.com|21:39:55|04/01/2010|

I have learned something important from your post - thanks.

I know that is it difficult to tell how deep water is on the road... or mud! One time I was trying to get home on a back country road and drove through a "washed out" section that had mud on the road. Well, I had NO IDEA how deep the mud was and that my car would get stuck! It was when I was single but dating my husband who is an auto tech. So he quick borrowed his boss' tow truck and drove there to get me out.

Let me say it took almost $10.00 worth of quarters at the car wash for me to get all of the mud off the bottom of my car. He told me that if there had been large rocks or even a tree limb in that mud, it would have taken out my oil pan, maybe gas tank, etc. I was so glad he helped me... but honestly that was probably 12 years ago and he still teases me about it some times!

Any way, hope that your insurance will cover the water damage to the engine and get you back on the road. Glad you are okay!!

under natural disaster....I have a deductible of $500...and yes I dread putting the claim in, but in this situation, I really don't have a choice. When I spoke with my insurance, they said since it really wasn't my fault, they may take that into consideration when they look at my claim in terms of my insurance going up...I don't have any tickets, violations etc......and have been 100% clean for the last 17 years....so it's not like I've put in tons of claims....

I spoke with my adjuster today and she said the will be going to the autobody shop on Monday, but told me if there's any electrical damage to the car at all, they will total it, since electrical issues can be complicated and a safety issue....I guess I'm just going to have to wait and see.....so far the insurance co. (Geico) has been pleasant, prompt and easy to work with...I hope it continues.....

In the meantime, I borrowed my mother in law's car to drive so I'm not stranded,,,,but you can BET I won't be going through ANY puddles anywhere!

I'll keep you all updated...

Wishing you all a wonderful day and Happy Holiday! 7|5|I'll be thinking about you and hope everything works out|zombietoo|littlejadensmom@juno.com|14:10:38|04/02/2010|
