Always looking for donations of old eye glasses or reading glasses for the poor, can send shipping costs or trade in coupons! 2|2|I agree on the shortage of healthcare workers....nurses, therapists, dieticians, pharmacists....all in short supply....and with the Baby Boomers coming into the age bracket where they need more care, we havent seen anything yet in terms of shortages of help!|saint6811|waylan@comcast.net|18:29:27|04/01/2010|

ETA: I think youre right about the cost of school too...many cannot afford school on their own, but dont qualify for sufficient grants and assistance. Also, there are so many trade careers (electrician, plumber, construction) that make way more money than some of those healthcare fields, people would pursue a career in healthcare for more altruistic reasons than the pay and benefits...and some people are only motivated by the almighty dollars.

There is no question that there will be a shortage of health care workers in the future and we will all suffer.

Why do you think that's "funny"??? 5|2|Inquiring minds want to know - what is so funny about this article?.....|Sharon|s_forshee@hotmail.com|08:34:48|04/02/2010|

so there is a lot missing in the complaints. Also, can you realize how much healthier we'll be as a nation when more people are actually getting primary care--the increased demand corresponds to extra services!

For example, I just found out that someone I knew in high school discovered she had a very serious heart murmur during her annual ob-gyn exam, without other symptoms, she had an 8-hour heart operation 3 days later. Not all women are able to go annually, and I hope that changes soon.
