After DH's heart attack, the doctors told him he needed to get regular exercise. He joined the "Y" but doesn't get to go very often since it's not convenient.
His membership is up for renewal ($360) soon and a friend said his doctor recommended he buy a Wii and do the WiiFit Plus and it would be good for his cardiac rehab.
We went to Wal-Mart yesterday to check it out since we have never seen a Wii and don't really understand how it works, but they did not have any in stock to show us.
Does anyone here have a WiiFit Plus who can explain it to me? Is it easy to hook up and easy to use?
I really wish I knew someone who had one so that I could go to their house and have DH "try it out" before we buy.
DH is 63. I go to Curves, but would plan to also use the WiiFit Plus on the days I don't go to Curves.
Any advice, suggestions would be really appreciated.

The Wii fit is a balance board that comes with some interactive games. The wii fit plus either comes as the game or the game and the balance board. The wii fit plus concentrates more on a cardio work out. It's not high intensity but it would give him a good workout. There are quite a few other exercise games out for the wii as well. From Biggest Loser to EA Active and EA Active more workouts. Wii fit game is only $15.54 on amazon. So shop around.

The way to go is with the Wii Fit Plus! You get the game and balance board for about $100. Multiple people can use this. You create your own person and it takes you through test at first to see how in shape your body is and it weighs you too. Under your person they keep track of your workouts, how long, how many calories burned, bmi, and weight! There are different categories you can go under for many different games/workouts. There is aerobics, yoga, balance training, strength training and I can't remember the rest off the top of my head. But under each section has different workouts/games to choose from. So you can always mix it up and do something different! We have about 6 people on ours right now and could added more if we wanted to. Good luck in your decision!

I wanted to add that the games are designed in a way that you forget you are actually moving. I find myself repeating some of them, so maybe I can get a better score. Therefore, I am moving more!
Everyone in your family will find something they like and it is very easy to use. You can choose easy workouts or something a little harder. You don’t have to dress up in your home, drive to the gym at a certain time, etc., just get the system out when you want…
Of course, having had a heart attack, he should call his doctor.

DH hooked it up while I was at work today and loved the bowling!
Now he's working on figuring out how the WiiFit Plus works.

I overdid it on the hoola-hoop and had a sore knee for a few days (from old injury). I'm not as young as I used to be
I just started doing the jacknife for my stomach and some of the yoga. I had never done yoga. It's doing something, since I can feel it in my abs. I guess there are some muscles under that flab!

You step to ride the bike. There are bunches of courses to follow (some MUCH harder than others). The first night I did it, I thought it was great, although I was sore the next day. That was Christmas. I still like doing it, even now.
I love the Penguin one too (on the balance screen).
