I would rather go to the library and get her books as quick as she reads them.
I'm glad she reads..but geez....LOL I'm not a reader... unless it's the gossip magazines. : ) 1|1|Will and Cheyenne both read alot and fast too...LOL...Matthew use to be an avid reader in Middle school...I read but I'm slow..LOL...We go to the library, plus I always look online for used books on homeschool sites etc and have found alot of bargains :)|RebekkaVA|queen_vulture@msn.com|17:30:53|03/26/2010|

2|1|No, but I wish they did....I love to read, and read to them since they were tiny babies....the last few years they have lost interest in it, I guess I can hope they gain the interest back as adults.|saint6811|waylan@comcast.net|17:49:24|03/26/2010|

11|2|Joy, I think that is common with boys to stop reading books as they get older. My son did switch to reading magazines, so he did keep reading even if it wasn't a book.|Ranalt|ainebailey@gmail.com|10:09:07|03/27/2010|

both of my kiddies read alot, they were not allowed to get junk or candy from Grandmom so she would buy them a book )sneaky lady). my son would buy a book when we went to the mall, walk around with us while reading the book (still dont know how he did thid but never missed a step or lost us), and usually finished it byt the time we left the mall. It was so funny to watch, but he would read the same books over and over

by the time the kiddies moved out we had a huge library of books

he is an English major now and writer. :D

KEEP READING HALEY !!! 5|2|agree with petina , keep read no matter what|Lorey12|Lorey12@yahoo.com|20:48:13|03/26/2010|

who is NOT an avid reader. :) He enjoys reading but he won't curl into a book the way I used to. But then again by vocabulary wasn't all that fabulous by the time SAT time came around. I had to study like a demon and it really never sunk in. Of course now I use those words all the time. So now I don't want my kids to do that mental cramming so I use hard words all the time and even if he doesn't say them he hears me using them and knows what they mean. 7|1|That's excellent that she loves to read! :)|maraj|maraj64@hotmail.com|21:20:54|03/26/2010|

I'm a bookworm & will read just about anything I can get my hands on, including newspapers & magazines. It's a great way to relax but to also keep the brain active & educated.
My college classmates thought I was crazy cuz altho some of our classes may've only covered half or certain chapters of our text books, I still read the entire books. LOL Especially the Socialogy, Psych, Race/Ethnicity/Diversity, & Ethics. I loved those social science classes! ;)
I wish I could say the same for my son. I started reading to him while he was still in utero, all the way up to about age 8 when he was then able to read more on his own. For a few yrs. after that he kept it up but it seemed to fall by the wayside when he reached puberty & got more into sports. He still reads the newspapers, store flyers & some magazines but I'm grateful when I see him reading even just a sport or music magazine now. Something, anything, just so he keeps that connection to reading!

We could learn a lot from crayons; some are sharp, some are pretty, some are dull, while others bright, some have weird names, but they all have learned to live together in the same box. ~Robert Fulghum

Luckily, he WILL re-read certain books over and over....not ALL books, but ones from his favorite authors. And he gets involved in different series all the time them plows through ALL of them as fast as he can get his hands on them.

I'm happy to say he's no longer intimidated by "thicker" books---he got over that with the Harry Potter series. LOL.

BTW...Shelly..... check out the Uncle John's Bathroom Readers possibly for Haley.... they're great for quick reads...and can be read and re-read. 9|1|alexa reads like that shes only 8 abd reads wired stuff shes reading haunting of the old south!!!an adult book|crazymomx2|crazymomx3girls@hotmail.com|22:43:39|03/26/2010|

We use the library a lot. I love going there for borrowing DVD's too. Nothing beats free! 12|1|Of my three children only one is a voracious reader like myself. My one daughter was dyslexic and it wasn't discovered until high school, but now as an adult she reads like crazy. I am a total bookworm who can finish a book in two to three hours.
I used to get in trouble in school because they thought I wasn't really reading the book.
I think reading is one of the most important things you can do with your children and set an example for by reading yourself.
If you can't read well, life can be much harder than it need be.
