I found out the hard way. My son moved in with his girl friend and ran a $800.00 cell phone up and watch cable all day. I am on Social security so I did not pay the $235.00 cable bill. I called them and told them I did not want it anymore and i would pay alttle each month. I told them My kid moved out when I asked them to pay the bill. My son was getting ssd check, ss check and working and getting 4 paychecks from his job but would not help at all. I got a call telling my I was over drawn at the bank by .10 and to come in by 4.00 to put some money in the bank. I go on to my bank account and find out direct tv used my credit card number and took $377. 70 out of my bank account with out telling me or getting my ok. The bank put papers throught to get them to give back the money but that will take 45 days and only if they want to. The bank teller told me that its been happening alot lately as people do not know the cable company has your credit card number on file so they can take money anytime they want to. I am going to get a new credit card after this issue is settled. Needless to say found out it is against the law for them to take money from a person accountby using there credit card and also against the law to take someones social security money. I guess they know I am not going to take it to court as it will soct me more money then its worth. By them taking my social security money a couple bills will not get paid this month and the bank refunded my overdraft fee.
I just want to let people know that watch your credit cards and bank accounts if you have cable. I woundering anyoney could get in their files and take credit card numbers. Its scarry to think that. I do not think I will get cable again or let my kid move back in. I am keeping busy with cleaning the yard after their 2 big dogs and painting the whole inside of the house. I am starting plants in the house and am going to put a garden. I intend to keep busiy. My kid is not ansewing my emails or returning my phone calls. And its not bothering me, come time when he gets in hot water and needs money he will have to look some where else.

I've heard of this happening to others who signed up w/one of these cable services. They're sneaky in doing that or slipping in xtra charges/fees, after requiring a valid credit/debit card for the initial sign-up. They get your credit/debit card number & then w/draw more on your account than they tell you about. :(

allowing them to use the card for pasyment it is called fraud. You should call your credit card company and dispute the charge to get your money back. Since inevitably if it did take 45 days you would be made whole it woild not be you taking them rto court but a DA or AG. and always if not satisfied file a complaint with any and all
