Hi, I applied for cash, food and medical in Indiana

I got a letter with my medical cards in it, but it says I was denied TANF?

My question is?

IS TANF and SNAP Benefits the same thing or different?

Can someone explain this to me? Thank you 1|1|Answers inside for you...|Skaytes|skaytez@gmail.com|17:42:53|02/25/2010|

TANF is cash assistance program..here is link to read all about it at IN.gov: http://www.in.gov/fssa/dfr/2684.htm

SNAP is food stamps essentially. I too was denied as well since IN has such a low cap on utilites combined (for instance..whoever heard of only paying $17 for a phone line here in IN?! I WANT that phone line! lol) Here is the link to read about it as well..choose the county you live in here in IN:

Thank you very much,

So TANF is Cash benefits and if i was denied that doesn't mean I will be denied SNAP? Right?

I still can qualify for SNAP I probably didn't get the letter yet then? Thank you ~ you helped a lot. I don't remember applying for TANF just medical and SNAP! 3|3|that stupid IN program for insurance...|Skaytes|skaytez@gmail.com|08:40:40|02/26/2010|

is ridiculous..the HIP program. You have to have been uninsured for six months and do not have access to insurance through their employer. This means if you work for someone and have crappy insurance and/or it's sky high and it would take most of your check to pay for it, you wouldn't be eligible for the HIP program. It's the pits for sure.
