11 0|0|OMG! Gym caused checks to bounce! Help!|hudge4|hudge95@yahoo.com|11:23:25|02/02/2010|
Went to the gym and got a membership-1st time ever joining a gym.
They told me I could post date a check for the initial fees so I postdated until Feb 28.
They cashed the check last night and caused all my checks to BOUNCE! $99 in fees.
Is there anything I can do? Msybe stop payment on their check? That would undo the other checks bouncing.
Help! My husband is gonna have a heart attack when he sees this mess.

THANKS!! 3|2|Yeah, wouldnt the bank actually be at fault for cashing a post-dated check?? Sounds like they might have to eat their own fees at least...but talk to the gym mgr also, you need that money back now to avoid bouncing checks....|saint6811|waylan@comcast.net|13:03:06|02/02/2010|

If you have any wine tags good in MI plmk 5|2|No, it's not....it's just a risk to accept a postdated check in the event that the account be closed before the reciever cashes it....see link inside, #10.|saint6811|waylan@comcast.net|13:25:17|02/02/2010|

10. IS THE CHECK POSTDATED? It isn't illegal to write a postdated check, but if you accept one, it is considered an extension of credit.

6|3|banks do not the honor post date on a check! learned the hard way a few years back, step son cashed a check early that we gave him, which was postdated, the bank accepted it, cashed it for him and when we freaked out, the bank explained that post dating means nothing. when the check it written and signed, it is cashable at any bank. you have to trust the person you are giving it to, to NOT cash it before the date you wrote on it. we lucked out, our bank reversed the overdraft fee as a courtesy, but warned us to never post date something unless we know for a fact the person or business won't cash it before the agreed upon date.|turdra|tammyjoblake@hotmail.com|15:26:39|02/02/2010|
Please leave feedback if we've traded, thanks!

:( 11|1|Well the gym gave us a two month credit .....|hudge4|hudge95@yahoo.com|16:03:17|02/16/2010|
which is ok but we would've liked cash.
We also got the bank to do a courtesy refund on $70 of the fees. They do that once a year. So that's good.
