DONT KNOW IF ANYONE CAN ANSWER THIS BUT I FIGURED I WOULD ASK ANYWAYS. MY OLDEST SON WANTS TO JOIN THE ARMY TO GET HIS LIFE STRAIGHT BUT HE IS ON PROBATION HE GOT A DUI. HE HAS PAID ALL HIS FINES, TOOK ALL HIS CLASSES AND HAS DONE EVERYTHING HE WAS SUPPOSE TO DO BUT HE IS ON PROBATION FOR THE NEXT YEAR. IS THERE ANYWAY HE CAN GET PROBATION DROPPED SO HE CAN JOIN THE ARMY? HE REGRETS WHAT HE DID AND DONT WANT THIS TO RUIN THE REST OF HIS LIFE. HE REALLY WANTS TO GET HIS LIFE TOGETHER AND FEELS THE ARMY WOULD BE THE BEST THING. HE HAS HEARD HE CANT DO ANYTHING AND THEN HES HEARD IF HE GETS LAWYER AND GOES TO COURT WITH A SIGNED LETTER FROM RECRUITER SAYING HE IS GOING IN THE ARMY HE CAN GET THIS EXCUSED. WE ARE CONFUSED.ANY HELP IS GREATLY APPRECIATED.
THANKS,

I do know that federal probation can be ended early. My friend wanted to fight to get custody of his son but was worried cause he was still on probation. His PO officer wrote a letter to judge saying he had followed all the requirements and agreeded that the probation was holding him back from making a better life for himself and family. He also had several friends and family write letters to judge. He walked out of court a FREE man and in less than 5 months had custody of his son.

I think I would ask his PO officer about it. HTH 2|1|Talk to the Recruiter, they can help.|shellysmsmo|jpksms@sbcglobal.net|09:52:41|01/30/2010|

Talking to the recruiter is the first step and they will help you out. 3|2|Yes, talk to the PO first to ask if it would even be possible and then talk to the recruiter and then have those who hash it out. Maybe they can work something out. |Sara_s_Mom|IClipCoupons@gmail.com|11:00:03|01/30/2010|

4|3|Just talked to my husband, he's the Retention NCO for his original unit (not the one he is going to Iraq with). He said for your son to go to the recruiting office and talk to the recruiter.|jen_ron|bugsmamma@earthlink.net|11:12:15|01/30/2010|

The Recruiter can get the paperwork started and then go before the judge and should be able to get it dropped and your son in the army. The good thing is, he has already paid his fine and took his classes. Those are one of the requirements when something like this occurs. He also said, due to what his probation is, for the begining he would probably only get Infantry, but later(in a few years) he might be able to change his MOS. Hope that helps you some. :)
