Here in the vast, white, frozen-Ozark foothills of Arkansas, stationed deep within the comforting warmth of the ice station (my home)...I look out my windows and see nothing but ice and snow, stretching to the horizon. The trees are bent with frozen branches crackling in the stiff breeze blowing in from the North. There's a lull in the storm now...and a quietness settles across the icy wonderland. Another 4-6" of snow is expected to fall later tonight, before the ice storm moves eastward and the frigid, numbing cold settles in for the duration. however, I do have propane heat stoves for warmth and for hot water. It's so cold that I can just remove my food from the refrigerator and set it on the porch. It certainly won't go bad...LOL. I just came back inside from searching under the ice and snow for the morning newspapers in the driveway. We can go from warm 50's w/fog & rain to near 0 w/wind, freezing rain &/or snow w/in a matter of a couple hrs. Usually in Nov. or March tho. LOL
We'd had a few warmer, above-freezing days here that the frost in the ground has thawed some but then it's back to frigid, 0 or below temps so the frost pushes up in the ground. It's been pushing up the one side of my deck so I can barely get my front door open. :-p
We live in the Land of the Free only because of the Brave!
