My Dr. Recently said my cholesterol was high and gave me an Rx for Simvastatin 20 mg. once a day. I have never been on many meds and honestly they all scare me with all the side effects I read about. I started the med 2 nights ago and have a twitching in my right eyelid this morning.....not sure this is from the med but I guess I am scaring myself silly with it. I am wondering if anyone has had problems with this med and also if there is anything out there herbal to take instead of a statin. Please ...any advice is helpful

for side effects:
Common side effects (>1% incidence) may include abdominal pain, diarrhea, indigestion, and a general feeling of weakness. Rare side effects include joint pain, memory loss, and muscle cramps

I would ask your doctor or pharmesist if tat is a side effect and if anythign can be done. I know what you mean about worrying about side effects. I am the same way I take meds for BP and was making myself crazy wondering if some symptioms I have are side effects. A friend of mine has high cholesterol and her doctor told her to take fish oil -seems to work for her. She got off her meds

they can interact with other meds you are taking or have side effects to your body.
definetly discuss this with your doc first before changing any medication.
