Hi, the pills my dog takes are $1 each! Don't get me wrong, I love my dog and am paying for them but my bill is up to $1,000 and no matter how many times we've gone back and had tests and how many antibiotics she's taken since Oct, SHE STILL HAS A COUGH! She's seen at least 3 diff vets so far.. PLEASE HELP! Does anybody have any suggestions to help her cough? THANK YOU SO MUCH!

I've not intentionally looking over anything. I've made sure that she's been tested as thorough as i'm capable of knowing.
Various tests on her shows she doesn't have cancer, she has a good strong heart and it's not enlarged, she doesn't have kennel cough, she doesn't have pneumonia or bronchitis. She's had x rays, blood tests, ultra sounds... her x rays show something "busy" in her lungs is what the last vet said which she meant that she thought she has a respiratory infection. She has been on two different antibiotics. The last set, she took two for twenty one days and they were very strong ones.
One thing I notice is that if I keep the house really toasty warm, she doesn't cough as much. I put a sweater on her during the night and I try and keep the house warm even when I'm not home.

And it wasn't kennel cough. The vet told me to run the humidifier (that helped) and that when the weather changed, her cough would get better. That was about this time last year. She did pass away last June, but that was due to old age. But he gave her antibiotics and really what she needed was some time. I know it is unnerving to hear them cough though. A humidifer really did help her though. Don't take your doggie out in extreme cold if you can help it. Like people, cold can make doggies cough. hope that helps.

She started this coughing around Oct when it started getting cold. She's old, about 11 or 12 years old but all the vets said she has no heart problems etc.. I will try the humidifier! THANKS FOR THAT TIP!! :) I'll go buy one!!!
