try logging on to mcafee.com if your computer will not allow you to even load the site then you definitely have a virus. (this happened to me in may) If it will load then you probably don't have a virus just a spy-ware program "teasing" you. I had the conifer worm and the only way to get rid of it was to wipe the entire hd and start all over again. Thankfully I had all my pics and music backed up on a hard-book so I didn't lose anything at all. I don't know any good spy-ware programs. perhaps someone else can help you with that. good luck!l

If you do have a virus or malicous software, one of the first things it does is attatch itself to the system restore folder, so if you do end up doin it the virus or whatever it is still in your system. There are two good free spyware programs that I know of, they are SpyBot Search & Destroy and Ad-Aware. There is an excellent program you can use but you have to pay for, its Webroot, its a spyware & antivirus program. Good luck!!

They do a scan for Free, but when i request a remove of spyware, they want credit card number. I just do the free HouseCall scan there every so often. Otherwise, I just use Spybot Search & Destroy, AdAware & Malware Bytes, besides my AVG. W/some clean-up tools, it's best to be a little cautious or have a pretty good idea of what you're doing so you don't inadvertantly delete something you shouldn't. :-O

Asking for opinions/experiences w/Trend's Clean-up Tools. Will also ask my pc techie...
But I believe the best/safest way for someone unfamiliar w/a computer's files, programs, etc. to clean up their pc on their own is by the usual basics:
scanning hard drive & files for errors, doing a disk defrag, emptying Temporary Internet Files & emptying the cache (manually or using Disk Cleanup under your pc's own System Tools).
