This is just absolutely disgusting wanting to convert 401K to annuities then dole it back as they see fit! Hubby took his out few years ago as he saw this coming once Reid & Pelosi got elected. Hope all the public comments respond saying hands off our 401K!

this is the TAXPAYER'S money...they work for US....not the other way around....these people have lost touch.....I truly believe they feel they are not accountable to the taxpayers and can do whatever they want with our money.....this is been happening for years..but I truly believe it's finally come to a head and hard working taxpayers have had enough...there is only so much you can take from the everyday working person, who works 5-6 days a week trying to provide for their family and just making ends meet (in alot of cases not doing so) before they take a look around and realize they simply can't afford to have more taken from them.....
This isn't a matter of democrat versus republican anymore....(because let's face it,,,there's corruption on both sides)...but more a matter of surviving....if the hardworking American wants to survive and simply hang on to what they've worked so hard for...they have to stand up....

hub has a 401K and an annuitie ...........one of his buddys was telling him...his had lost..sure enough when we cked .it had lost around $4000......so we are doing just what most of
the guys he works with has done........we are drawing out his annuities ,,,we figure its better to let them tax us for early withdrawel....than to end up letting it keep losing
and end up with nothing...........so we already have the paper work to with draw it.....and soon as he gets laid off again.......we are pulling it out......

Are congressional Democrats talking about confiscating IRA and 401(k) investment accounts?
My mother has recently brought up a rumor that Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid endorse a plan for the goverment to take people's 401Ks to make up tax dollars. Is this true and where did my mother get the information? (she can't tell me).

No. There's no plan to seize these accounts. One House witness at a committee hearing proposed to allow some people to trade their old accounts for a new type that would be less risky.

We've had many queries about this doozy. They all lead back to a Nov. 4 report posted by the Carolina Journal, a publication of the conservative John Locke Foundation of Raleigh, N.C. Its headline proclaimed, "Dems Target Private Retirement Accounts: Democratic leaders in the U.S. House discuss confiscating 401(k)s, IRAs." The report is wrong. There's been no such discussion.
What has been discussed is changing 401(k) and Individual Retirement Accounts in the future by limiting the deductibility of donations, and offering as an alternative a $600 tax credit and a new type of account with an annual return guaranteed by the government. That's a controversial idea to be sure, but it's a far cry from proposing that the government seize retirement assets that investors have already salted away in 401(k)s or IRAs. Nobody we know of is proposing anything like that.
