I know there are quite a few places that buy it now but was wondering which source will get you the best price with out the fees. I know that deal where you get an envelope and send it in gives you a pretty low rate

There's two different ways they weigh it, so make sure you can compare apples to apples when they say they pay X per ounce or X per pennyweight (not the same). There's also gold jewelry parties popping up all over. You could get a quote from them too, but I've seen ppl cautioning against them offering you the 10 ct price vs. the 14 ct price. So just be aware. Hope that helps :)|Sara_s_Mom|IClipCoupons@gmail.com|10:38:19|01/08/2010|

offering to send you quick cash for any gold you send to them in envelopes. First of all, how do you know if these places will give you a fair price for your gold? How do you know how much gold you have before sending it all in? Weighing the gold at home is not viable, since people are not sending in solid gold items. Some items will have diamonds or other gems set in old jewelry items. How do you weigh that and keep it out of the actual weight of the gold? I would be afraid that these television companies would collect my gold and then send you only what they "claim" was sent to them.

It would be best to do what the earlier poster suggested. Take your gold to a local, reputable jewelry store or gold exchange and have it looked at. Do this at a few different places, to determine who has the best rates, and to see if any of the places you visited are trying to scam you out of some of your gold.
