I guess the good news is that you shouldn't have any wait since I guarantee plenty of people will cancel due to snow. And the highways will be one of the things they clear first and best.
And, to answer the question....No, I can honestly say I've never used a snow shovel as a sled.... but I haven't even tried sledding in years and years---since my fat ole butt can't get back up...and I dislike the thought of explaining frost bitten buns to any doctor.
