My DD works in Chicago a few months out of the year and my grandsons absolutely love it there. When she asked my grandson where he wanted to go for his birthday, clear as day, he said Chicago.

We stayed on the 17th floor in a hotel on the Chicago River and we had the most amazing view. The boys even got to see a tug boat pushing a barge down the river.
My DD was offered a job in Chicago with her company, but she can't take it due to the divorce, so she took the job and they allow her to commute as needed.
Since I lost my job a while back when I broke my ankle, I travel with her so the boys can go.

o at the end of the pier they have a beer garden with free live entertainment, jazz, blues, rock etc...we go there and sit(they have lots of tables set out) and listen and dance to great music, we bring our own backpack dinner and drinks, and stay until they close...beautiful to sit out by the lake on a summer night and see the skyline..
My cousin has a contract to decorate navy pier...he's been doing it the past 7 years.

We are planning on taking the boys this summer as my DD works usually late August until late October. So far, we have taken the boys to the Lincoln Park zoo, the beach and Shedd's Aquarium...which they want to go back to.
We drove past the downtown Chicago Public Library and we are definitely going in there. My grandsons are big bookworms like me and their Mom.

Oh, my lots of blues bars here...buddy guy and blue chicago...There is also a very nice piano bar "called red head piano, they have a singer there that plays elton john's classic songs, very classy place and have a dress code.
