the Royal Gorge Bridge. It's amazing and there is a number of touristy type amusement parks around, if I remember right.

Ok DH said he thinks that Canon City is about an hour from Colorado Springs. He did not know much that was in Canon City but remembers it as a kid, but if you want to go the distance to Colorado Springs they have the Air Force Academy, Garden of the Gods, the olympic training center is there, some type of rodeo or cowboy museum, and a zoo in the mountain (dh thought it was Cheyenne Mountain Zoo) Anyway Colorado Springs is smaller than Denver and has quite a bit of things to do. Pueblo is also within an hour but not sure what there is to do there. Sorry could not be more specific with Canon City, but hope this gives you some help and Colorado mountains are soooo pretty in the summer!

if it close by but brewery tours can be fun even for non drinkers it is neet to see how things are made. I love taking factory tours when I am out and about.
