Hi Everyone! I'm a day late wishing everyone a Merry Christmas! It has been a crazy month here as we moved from NJ to NH on Dec 15th, making 3 trips back and forth until the 24th to spend with family. I did not do any decorating, put up the tree, any baking, etc., this year. Just bought gifts in early November and wrapped. I wanted to wait until after the holidays to move but hubby was very impatient and wanted to move in before Christmas!! We moved into an old farmhouse built in 1900 that we're fixing up. I moved from a town of around 35,000 to 2,000 population. Yes, live out in the sticks and closest neighbor is about 1/2 mile away. I've lived in NJ all my life up to now, so I am kind of in a limbo living out in the middle of nowhere! Hubby loves it and says I'll get used to it eventually and will love it....I hope so!! I'll have to say the NH folks are much nicer, friendlier folks around here. Definitely a much slower-paced, laid back life out here-LOL!! I don't mind that at all, less stress is better for you anyhow. Although I haven't met any people here, we are members of NH FreeStateProject, have met lots of people in this group. Anyone live in NH or out in the sticks give me some tips on country living? I do have to drive to nearest city to the main stores which is 30 miles away, that I don't have a problem with because it's easy, fast driving, no lights, traffic, etc., which hubby & I really like-LOL!! Just have to plan everything in one trip so not to waste gas. Oh one more thing, we have to take our own trash to the dump, and hubby took me last week to show me the ropes. Well, came to the one with cardboard boxes, and as I looked inside the dumpster, got so excited seeing all the cereal, beer, Eggo, crackers boxes-LOL!! I only grabbed a couple as I didn't want the people think I was crazy taking the garbage-LOL!! Hubby said he'll ask them next time if I can take some stuff out of this dumpster. He told me they probably don't care. I've never done this before & I am afraid to climb inside the dumpster - is this what you dumpster diving refunders do? Thanks! I was a city girl and lived in California 33 years before I ever moved anywhere, I was born in Los Angeles. Anyways I love rural living, and hope again someday to move out in the sticks again. Right now we are in a small city on the outskirts, so it's countryish here, but I would love to get an old farm house and live the country life again. Hugs, Rebekka
