Hi folks
Well, I survived my "piece of cake" surgery, but it was a much bigger deal than expected. I went in for a vaginal hysterectomy, supposedly really easy, the doctor got started but couldn't do the surgery that way, so stitched me up, knocked me out and cut me open. Turns out I had two very large tumors from my ovaries going to my appendix and my bowels. So they removed my uterus, ovaries, appendix and spent 5 hours and 3 surgeons to get this done. My poor family was a wreck wondering what was happening. I needed a blood transfusion during the surgery, and again later that night. Next day I had a fever of 104 they couldn't bring down most of the day. THe third day I was getting hysterical (i have a real big problenm with hospitals) and they sedated me, almost made me stop breathing, my blood count dropped, they had to give me oxygen and stuff, kept me there 4 more days. The whole time I had a tube down my nose draining my stomach to make sure my bowels were ok, and I have been blowing blood out of my nose ever since. I spent two days vomiting too. \
As I was leaving the hospital the Dr. informed me that the tumors were cancerous and she set me up with a specialist the next day.
Good news is, he said we don't actually know yet, that the pathology from the hospital was borderline, which to him doesn't mean anything, coz they say that on 90%, but the bad news, they do pathology on Tuesdays and have results by Thursday, so he said I would know by now, but the darn hospital didn't send the specimens til Wed. so now I won't have any idea until after the holidays, so I am a wreck.
And I am so swollen and bloated, I can't fit in ANYTHING in my house, had to send DH to the store to buy me big fat underwear and PJS, I weigh 18 pounds more than when I went in! I refuse to buy any clothes, but Dr. said it will take 4-6 weeks for this to go back to normal.
Today I am finally feeling human enough to go online, boy did I miss all this. So, please say some prayers for me and hope I get results before the holidays (he would try, but couldn't promise).

What an ordeal! I will keep thinking good thoughts that you recover well and the results of the tests are negative.

This group is so wonderful! One of my local traders even called and offered to bring me food. Fortunately, my family is all close by and very good.
And silly as it is, I already lost 5 pounds, so I feel better about that, although I still can't fit in my clothes. But I'm taking Viv's advice and staying in my jammies til I have no other choice, best way to recover.
