Ya know those times when everything seems to be falling apart and you just have to step back and say seriously what else can actually happen???? DH lost his job last week, which obviously really hurts us, I literally don't know what we are going to do. I don't know whether or not I believe the country is coming out of the recession or not, but I do know that Wyoming is still in it! Especially with the holidays finding a job is tough, tons of places shut down until January. We were already struggling to pay bills for 2 households. My sister (whom I do love dearly) is a pain in the rear and does not do well with paying her bills, I pay the bulk of everything for her, and the only reason I do is because of my 2 neices. It is not fair for them to be evicted from places and not have heat/power. Then I had to go to dentist on Thursday and get some fillings (which I couldn't afford, but they were bugging me so bad I did it anyway..my poor credit card is maxed!!) anyway I had to go back in to have some grinded off and they still aren't right, when I eat I am still hitting a spot that zaps me, so again I have to go back. Sorry for the gripping but I just kinda needed to get it out! I just keep reminding myself people have it way worse then we do. And so what if my bills aren't paid...its just hard to keep reminding yourself that cause those bill collectors make ya feel like crap for not paying them!

Have a good one :)

I often feel like "when it rains, it pours" and that all of the bad stuff is stacking up. Like lost wages are so wide spread, you can barely sell stuff on our local Craigslist right now as too many people are unemployed (and that was how I got us out of a few tight spots with our bills recently... now I am not sure what else to do).

Or the prices of gas are still high in my opinion, with some many people not working; and the grocery stores, don't get me started on those prices geezy pete!

You are not alone, I am glad you posted because I think it helps to get it out... I think a lot of people are "new" to being financially challenged this severely. The media will tell you the recession is over based on a small decrease in unemployment yet that rate is still extremely high and will likely go back up and even higher as soon as the seasonal slow down occurs (home and road construction, landscaping, etc all in our area have just started layoffs).

I think there are a lot of people who are totally shell-shocked because they never believed they could ever be in a financial spot like this, especially if they are in this situation due to circumstances beyond their control, i.e. job loss, medical problems, death, etc.

Those who simply had a ball and ran up their credit cards irresponsibly do not get my sympathy, however.
4|3|This is so true! I am so thankful I have been frugal and smart with my money before our economy took a nose dive...but there are so many people that never thought they'd have to worry. Look at the millions of people who lost their retirements when the market crashed! Cost of living is through the roof, and wages are stagnant or being cut....it is a culture shock for many people!|saint6811|waylan@comcast.net|16:15:07|12/16/2009|

A government big enough to give you everything you want, is strong enough to take everything you have.
--Thomas Jefferson--

You cannot build character and courage by taking away people's initiative and independence.
You cannot help people permanently by doing for them, what they could and should do for themselves.

but for the most part I could pay the bulk of my bills, but then they cut DH wages which was an adjustment, but now with no job it really is hard to adjust too I agree. And omg yes the price of everything just makes it even harder to get by!

Have a good one :)

My husband was laid off Nov. 1st. At this point he hasn't collected any unemployment because his wages were paid into many different states. They are making us wait until all wages are moved to one state before he can collect. Really stinks this had to happen right be Christmas..Your post made me smile because I also had to go to the dentist and I have a cavity! I haven't had a cavity in 20 years! Then both my boys got sick. We have insurance through my job but the medicine was still $65. Thankfully we were able to put money each week into different savings. We have lived off that the last two months. It is now all gone so I hope unemployment comes through quick! I signed up for food stamps just to be told were are $16 over the income limit. WHAT??? $16 Are you kidding me?? I was stunned that we didn't qualify. Anyway, just wanted to let you know that I feel your pain & I hope tings get better for you soon!

and you will get that darn unemployment. DH is on his way this mornin. I guess the amount of people has been crazy so they are really busy, so hopefully he can get the ball rolling. And YUCK on the dentist thing, I really wrestled with going but was tired of it bothering me.

Have a good one :)

I have to worry so much about bills now that I cant work (Waiting on disability to take their sweet ass time to give me a hearing date) I make myself crazy thinking about money, DHs wages havent been cut, but he used to work alot of overtime, which he isnt getting much anymore, so things are rough and they keep getting rougher, i am glad I am frugal, or we would be in the poor house!

somedays it seems like I check it almost every hour to see if anyone posts in the "items wanted" to see if I have what the person wants to buy. I know that sounds literally crazy but sometimes I make a few dollars that way selling stuff out of our basement.

Or I get really excited when one of the reward programs send my paypal... last Friday I got .09 and was thinking it was great to have that extra money.

Kandy, I too try to do mindless stuff, Facebook has been instant sanity some days :) Plus I get to chat with one of my favorite RS members when I am on there. 12|1|trying the sitting and waiting game on bankruptcy to end so you can get on with your life |lydzkydz|lydzmcss@yahoo.com|12:15:39|12/17/2009|
