WHAT'S THE HEAVENLY FATHER LIKE??
What five divine characteristics did God reveal to Moses?
Why does divine punishment continue to later generations?
How did Moses respond to God's revelation?
THE LORD CAME DOWN IN A CLOUD, STOOD WITH HIM THERE, AND PROCLAIMED HIS NAME YAHWEH. THEN THE LORD PASSED IN FRONT OF HIM AND PROCLAIMED; YAHWEH-----YAHWEH IS A COMPASSIONATE AND GRACIOUS GOD, SLOW TO ANGER AND RICH IN FAITHFULLNESS TRUTH AND LOVE, MAINTAINING FAITHFULL LOVE TO A THOUSAND GENERATIONS, FORGIVING WRONGDOING, REBELLION, AND SIN. bUT HE WILL NOT LEAVE THE GUILTY UNPUNISHED, BRINGING THE CONSEQUENCES OF THE FATHER'S WRONGDOING ON THE CHILDREN AND GRAND CHILDREN TO THE THIRD AND FOURTH GENERATION.
mOSES IMMEDIATELY BOWED DOWN TO THE GROUND AND WORSHIPED.
Moses had broken the stone tablets with the Ten Commandments writen on them, so God told him to prepare more tablets. Moses returned alone to Mount Sinai in order for God to write the Commandments on the new tablets. God appeared to Moses in a cloud and announced His presence by proclaiming his name Yahweh.
Although God revealed Himself through many names in the old testament, this name was a special covenant name.
The Hebrews eventualy considered Yahweh to be so sacred that they did not say it out loud. They said another Hebrew word. which can be translated :Lord" which is sometime used as a translation for "Yahweh"
