Was wondering if anyone here has ever had a sinus infection and if so do I need a prescription to fix it? My son ( 5) has been home sick all week. I called the dr today hoping maybe they could call in an antibiotic prescription for him since I just took him the dr in september for an ear infection. Dr. said it sounds like a sinus infection and that I will have to bring him in. We do not have insurance and do not have the $140 for the dr visit. I asked if I could bring him and then be billed in payments or whatever but she said no. Full payment must be made upon services rendered. ughh. DH's check was for way less then we were hoping for this week and we have home insurance property taxes and a ton of other bills due. ughh. If anyone has any advice on the sinus infection I would really appreciate it. Thanks ;)

I had one in June and it involved headaches that made me think I was two minutes away from dying. They were so bad. It took a round of antibiotics (and probably taking them for 3-4 days) before I felt any better at all. I could not function.

I'm not sure if it will clear up on its own, but if he is miserable I think a Dr. visit is worth it.

Do you have any health clinics (community health). They often see people on a sliding scale based on income and it is much cheaper. The one here charges me a base rate of $30 per visit and if I need any tests or anything, it can be more. Call your local health dept and see if they have a clinic too, because that is another low cost option.

I am not positive but I think most generally a sinus infection needs an antibiotic, or at least in my case it always does, and in my experience the longer it goes the worse it gets. 3|2|DS's girlfriend is fighting one now she had to get meds :) On the bill side of it|teener|teenerzacsneenee@yahoo.com|07:57:10|12/11/2009|

may I suggest that you get your home insurance and tax's added to your mortgage we do it that way and there is no worry about coming up with it all in one payment hth 4|1|cvs's little clinics do treat sinus infections...|noway|stormybizzles@yahoo.com|08:31:07|12/11/2009|

He was so miserbale i bit the dust and took him to the doctor. Turns out he has strep throat ( which is weird cuz he never complained about his throat hurting). And he actaully has a rash to accompany it so doctor said technically he has scarlet fever. It cost me $178 but at least I have peace of mind and with the help of antibiotics he will get better. As for the ins. and taxes being added into our house payment I wish we could but when we refinanced the house the bank wouldnt do it. It used to be in our house payment until we refinanced and they said most loaners are getting away from that and don't do it anymore. Anyways thanks again for all of your advice on the sinus infection. :)
