So i dont like my mil (who does?) and she came over earlier and i sat there for a few then got tired of her so i came in the other room to get online and I can hear her whispering about how dirty my house is. She then came into my room and told me that she was going to come over on my next day off and help me clean. Keep in mind my house is not dirty its small and i have a husband that is like having kids. He does not pick up after himself. I work a lot because i have a sick husband. Who does she think she is? What nerve!!!

It is not her place to say your house is dirty; and truly I have found it is not much help to have your MIL there on cleaning day. What a card she must be to offer help in that way.
One time when my MIL was visiting she offered to wash my kitchen floor, which I had just done before they arrived. So I told her that and she said "oh, ummm, let me go buy you a new mop because it didn't get your floor clean" as if it is the MOP that cleans, not me? Duh! She has also had to re-train me on how to load my own dishwasher a few times, so now I tell people to put the dishes in the sink :) and load it after they are gone.

Meet her at the door & before letting her in (both of your arms outstretched in the doorway so she can't just walk in/get around you), ask her if she came to see you & dh or to see your house & complain about her son's lack of housekeeping ability. :-p I did similar w/a nosey neighbor I had when I lived at the he(( hole. I met him at the door & asked him, "did you come to see me or gripe about my house". Stopped him in his tracks & put a damper on his dropping in at the most inopportune times - usually when I was in the middle of cleaning, wrapping presents, doing Christmas cards or working on my refunding - when I'd have everything pulled out/scattered about.
I don't care to visit w/people like that. Grrr!

she wiped the top of the door sill to my bathroom going into my rec room, my SIL caught her and asked..Mom what ae you doing?..then said, didnt find anything did you!!!..ROFL..love my SIL. I use to be a maniac when people were coming over, house was litterally spotless. eased up big time!
I am positive my DH is apoted, so different than the rest of the family, more like his dad (which is a good thing)

im like........are u expecting someone to come over while we are gone? that continued for awhile......till i was expecting our son.....and i was like..you go right ahead and straighten all u want
and his family lived out of state.....seemed like someone was always coming for the week or wkend.......and i would clean and clean.....before they came...finally i said....p---- on this
they are coming to see u.........not to see how clean the house is........i already had 2 kids from previous marriage and he wasnt used to a kids mess.....but after we had our first son, he really lightend up.....about the cleaning.......i clean everyday...but not spotless clean..u know..
but as for a mil ...........i absolutly loved mine....never had a cross word with her...

we used to pay her to do it every 2 weeks.....she stopped cleaning early spring when her knee got bad. She had replacement surgery in april, and recently did our house 2 times while bill was away. I do not think she does a "super job", but a good enuf job for me. I work 6 days a week, and really do not feel like doing that on my 1 day off....so she is welcome to do it......Funny thing is she has not let me pay her so far.....woo hoo...maybe she feels bad cause my hubby*her little boy....LOL is still unemployed....and he does not clean it.....i do not care, as long as it is not me!!!Jodie
