My hubby is filing for disability and today we got a letter that we are unofficially denied for SSI......
My question is this. They are two different things aren't they?

DO YOU HAVE A LAWYER WORKING ON " BECAUSE THEY USUALLY DO DENY YOU THE FIRST TIME AROUND....IF NO LAWYER I WOULD ADVISE YOU TO GET ONE

SSI is for those with limited or no income and limited resources.

If you have resources - own your home, cars, life insurance, bank accounts, you will not qualify for SSI. SSI is funded from general tax revenue, and not SS taxes and is geared toward the truly indigent.
SSDI is funded through SS taxes with a different set of rules for qualification. Very few people get approved on the first try and many wind up needing a lawyer.

my daughter was born with a heart defect, and had surgery at 8 days old. We own a house and even though my husband does not nake hardly any money, we were denied bc we own a house.. just her surgery was over 200 thousand $, it is not fair..she goes to the dr at least once a week too...you gotta love it
