I was never able to get rid of horrible mouse smell when they died BUT I did find something great to kill them that DOESN'T make them smell. I went to the grain elevator here (where farmers go to sell/store their grain, buy feed etc) and they carry a couple different kinds of stuff similar to DCon but it makes them die with OUT smelling. Great stuff! The kind I got comes in packets..just lay the packets around and the mice eat thru the packets and eat the pellets inside. You never smell a thing and I have yet to find a dead one just laying around either. Whereever they go to die, it's a mystery. Just ask the guy who runs the elevator about it..describe what I just said..they will know what this stuff is. I would caution against this if you have pets that could get into the pellets or eat the dead mice and of course be very careful if you have children as you certainly don't want them to get into that stuff either, but sure works great!
