7 0|0|Poor Joe Jackson! He's having a really tough time balancing his budget lately...|sunriver|lithiasalt@cheerful.com|22:27:32|11/06/2009|

He gets $1700 a month in social security and he spends $15,000 a month. He's seeking a stipend from Michael's estate. Katherine already gets $26,000 a month as well as $60,000 a month for the children!

We need to invite the whole lot of them to this board and teach them a few things, don't you think?

Link to the story I just read that left me shaking my head:

He even sent me a bunch of cases of his soda called "Jo Cola". I think all of them could take some frugal lessons from us :)|RebekkaVA|queen_vulture@msn.com|22:29:52|11/06/2009|

2|2|I had no idea you worked in radio! You are a woman of mystery!|sunriver|lithiasalt@cheerful.com|22:34:48|11/06/2009|

That is really neat. We are radio people around here (low power community radio station) and Dh and I do a lot of volunteer work for them. Dh also has a paying gig with them too.

Was the cola good? I had no idea he ever marketed such a thing!

"Let's just hit the reset button," he says. "Let's say I'm sorry and start over again. That was basically the message. Something better is going to come." John Rzeznik (Musician)
3|3|Yep that was back in the 80's. It was alot of fun and I've interviewed many celebs and other people...I loved it :) The Cola wasn't bad at all, but he marketed it over in the Carribean :)|RebekkaVA|queen_vulture@msn.com|22:43:37|11/06/2009|

4|4|me too..8 years in broadcasting...|van1|van100@wowway.com|07:33:09|11/07/2009|

I loved it 'cause I could choose any subjects, and invite guests, etc...as long as we offered equal time to everyone who had an interest...listeners would call in and ask questions of the guests (or ask ME a question) You better believe that 7 second delay had to be used a few times...we aired the shows live every week day from 10 til noon..and always taped them for any future questions or rebuttals.

I was able to set it up so that NO ONE GOT AN ADVANCED COPY of questions..and I did not accept advance copies of their "okay to ask" info. I came with no experience in the broadcasting world, but I was curious about everything...( still am )...so I never knew what I was gonna hear, or ask. I NEVER asked embarassing questions or things like "how did you feel when your ____________ whatever". I am still appalled at some of the absolutely heartless questions being asked, even currently, in today's "news"..

Got to interview many stars who were visiting every summer at a close by Playhouse....did the interviews on radio on opening day, and go to go to attend the opening night performances and the cast party afterward..

The best part for me was always presenting consumer information, and of course, covering as many events and stories in our little town and surrounding area. I even got permission to talk to the National Guard, and did the first "scared straight" program with inmates of Jackson Prison who were working with some authorities and headed-for-trouble teens.

Not bragging..it was a part of my life that I enjoyed and on radio, no one cared what I looked like...(at the time, I weighed 320 pounds!

Thank you for sharing your experience too.
