A government big enough to give you everything you want, is strong enough to take everything you have.

You cannot build character and courage by taking away people's initiative and independence.
You cannot help people permanently by doing for them, what they could and should do for themselves.

I have a small framed piece of Chinese art with calligraphy, paid $1.50 for it, the back says it came from a gallery with the sticker price of $300. I've gotten Pyrex cookware, Tupperware, crock pots, and my yogurt maker all from thrift store, got myself a nice brown soft butter leather bomber jacket, for $15..

I've found so many great things over the years. A few that stand out is a framed print/photograph that I saw across the room one evening just as the thrift store was closing. I asked them if I could take a better look at it and apologized for keeping them there later and they were nice enough to pull it down so I could see it up close. It had a $4 price tag and was a large photo of this merry go round. I bought it and took it home and discovered that it was a very limited print from the photographer. I sold it on ebay for several hundred dollars (I think it was about $300), so that was great! Another was a tiny train ertl car that I picked up for ten cents and sold for $65. My favorite things were items that I later made money on, but we literally live better due to thrift store finds. We buy most of our clothing and the majority of our household items as they wear out. I love thrift stores almost as much as I love yard sales!

"Let's just hit the reset button," he says. "Let's say I'm sorry and start over again. That was basically the message. Something better is going to come." John Rzeznik (Musician)
