My children came home from school yesterday and told me that a fifth grader tried to give my daughter a pill and told her it was candy! She's only 7 years old!!!

Thank God my son was there and told her not to take it. I called the school and reported the incident. Another parent had just called a few minutes before me to report the same incident.

Unbelievably scary! The possibilities of what the pill is are scary. My son said that he saw the bottle, but couldn't see the name of the pill except for a "C". I've told them to never take candy from strangers, but who woulda thunk I'd have to worry about a little boy on their bus!

Lauren 1|1|OMG!!! That is scary...I am so glad I homeschool our daughter~*~There's too much crap going on these days at school :(|RebekkaVA|queen_vulture@msn.com|18:05:43|11/03/2009|

~~ You are the BEST!! ~~ 3|2|as a kid, worst I ever had was boys pulling out my hair ribbons, or someone trying to throw my brothers erasers out a bus window.. how far our children have come, to be accessible to pills, weapons, etc.. If I knew the kids parents, I would be at their house starting a riot.. this is possibly something the kid sneaked outta parents room or stole, what parent willingly lets kids take meds to school...|car_mont|car_mont@hotmail.com|20:40:10|11/03/2009|

Unfortunately, my children didn't know the kid's last name or I would have rang up his folks.

I am going to call tomorrow to see what action's been taken. My son said he's had trouble with this boy before being a bully and pushing him and other kids around.

lauren 5|1|Holy cow! I'm sure sorry as that is VERY scary. :(|maraj|maraj64@hotmail.com|08:39:20|11/04/2009|

There was some freshman kid passing around/selling pills at my son's h.s. last year & that got me a little nervous but it didn't involve any of the juniors or seniors. The kid had been given some pain pills for a sports injury & I guess he didn't need all of them so had decided to "share" w/some of his classmates/friends. :( My son is totally anti-drug but has also been afraid of any kind of pills since he was a little boy & climbed up & got ahold of the Milk of Magnesia bottle out of the cupboard & took about 3-4 of the tablets that were in it. Not only did I make him vomit (which he HATED) but he spent most of the next day on the toilet w/diarrhea since his stomach had already absorbed 1-2 of the tablets by the time I found out. That was a scary learning experience for both of us but I'm SO grateful that it left a lasting impression on him about the risks/dangers of inappropriately taking pills/meds when you don't know what they are or what they're for. My son is 18 now but STILL asks me to give him a couple Tylenol for a headache, etc. & will NOT just go ahead & take them on his own. :)

In public school, children learn to deal with what they will face in the future. The learning is not just book work...butalso socialization. As a parent, you have to send your child out into the world with skills...some learned in the home and some learned day by day in dealing with people who may be different than you...or even a danger to you.

very angree about the girl who was raped by 5-6 young men in richmond the story has made national news. the bystanders did nothing to help her. i have two boys now men and i know that when they were younger they probably went along with the crowd but this is so different. public schools are dangerous thats for sure
