Our dear, precious cat was killed a couple of hours ago by a neighbor's dog. I had just fed her and all of our other pets, come inside and finished cooking supper, and was in the basement working on tomorrow's school lesson when I heard my husband calling. He had just got home from work and found our sweet kitty in the garage. I had been in the basement about 10 minutes. She had just died when he found her. We buried her in the backyard in a flower bed by my daughter's playhouse, one of her favorite sunny spots. She was truly a wonderful pet - always loving and playful. She adored my daughter and vice versa. She was always calm and patient while my daughter dressed her in doll clothes and loved to go for a ride in the go cart. She will truly be missed. The neighbors were informed. Of course they deny their dog did it. Hubby didn't press, but told them if the dog was caught in our yard again, he would see that it found a new home. We have had problems with these neighbors since they moved here about 6 years ago. The list is long, but their boys were playing unsupervised with guns and shot out our living room window. Last year we were away on the 4th of July until very late that night. When we came home the boys were shooting bottle rockets into our pasture at our horses. The temp was very hot and my beautiful Walking horse (who was over 30 years old) had run to the point of exhaustion. She was unable to recover and we had her put to sleep just a few days later. If you haven't already, it might not be a bad idea to report these people to the cops, get a file going, cuz I don't think this is the last of the terrible experiences you're going to have w/them. They need to be stopped. It sounds like there's a major lack of animal control AND parental supervision on their part. For them to let their kids intentionally terrorize a horse like that is aweful, & if they're that careless & mean to animals, I can't imagine how they treat other people! :(

I thought living in the country offered more peace and serenity then the hectic city that I live in. I guess there is no where to go to escape cruel treatment.

would a child have against that dog?. My parents live in a small town, lots of stray dogs roaming around and coming into the yard. Their dog was a puppy at the time, my parents saved up money and put up a fence to keep them out, they really feared for not only their own safety, but for the dogs as well..I would be putting up a fence around your property.
