My son tore a PCL last year & surgery was mentioned then so I understand what you're all feeling. :( Fortunately, physical therapy worked for him but we were both scared w/the possibility of surgery looming til we knew if the PT was helping or not.
It's hard for kids who are so active & love sports like they do to have to be laid up or take it easy for any length of time. Especially if they're not sick so feel fine otherwise. But, better to get it fixed up good now, while he's young, strong & full of energy so it doesn't come back to haunt him in later years (like during college football). Because he's been so physically active, he'll very likely get thru the surgery & recovery period w/flying colors! :) And I'm sure he won't mind too much all the pampering & attention he'll get. LOL
I may not be able to cheer him on in person but I hope he knows me & everyone else will be cheering for him just as much & as loudly as if he was on the mat or the field. :)
