having blood test for Lyme. He said when someone comes in without history of an injury, they do the Lyme test. He said my knee was pretty swollen and when he turned it, OUCH, pain in my hip too.

So, anyone know what's up with torn cartilage? I'm thinking not so bad, no surgery or anything, right?

Glad they are helping you on the road to being mended. :0)
I don't know much about torn cartridge, other than I remember reading something about a gel they sometimes use? If it is real bad it could mean surgery, but I think there are several other things they may be able to do first.

Hang in there. I know it is not fun, but just think about how much better you will feel once you can get it behind you.

praying u will be better soon! 4|1|Uh oh, I was afraid it would be soft tissue damage....I honestly am not familiar with what they do for it, Cathie.....my first real experience with this was with Cody, but his was a meniscus tear of a ligament, not cartilage. Hope you get approval for the MRI quickly, so you can get some answers, and can get things mended up. |saint6811|waylan@comcast.net|19:35:26|10/26/2009|

"fix" it before surgery. Not doing surgery helps reduce the chance of arthritis later. I really didn't even think surgery was involved, LOL, I was thinking 1 or 2 weeks of just rest,oh man, I will just wait and see what they say, I guess. Stressing now won't fix it. : ) 8|1|I've had mixed results|zydeco|kimr@alador.com|01:50:55|10/27/2009|

With surgery. The left knee was 100% successful! The right knee hasn't gone so well. Two surgeries helped somewhat but now the joint is held together by arthritis. I also have the hip pain. After all the scans and test's the docs says it's coming from somewhere in my back. I'm thinking, in this area anyway, that cure is way worse than the pain. HTH and Good Luck! 9|1|I have a torn cartilage in my right knee..|Sharon|s_forshee@hotmail.com|08:14:42|10/27/2009|

I use the treadmill often and for several years too and my right knee started acting up this past Spring. I rested for couple weeks and it went away. Hubby warned me this would effect my joints, etc, and didn't mention torn cartilage which I should've known, so now paying for it!! I told him my symptoms which is exactly what he had several years ago from jogging which he had to stop. After he rested for a week or so, used the exercise bike and the pain went away. He told me to put ice on it, wear a knee brace for a few months and as it heals so will no longer use treadmill but will use exercise bike and NordicTrack which will help heal like physical therapy. You can get surgery but I'm worried about getting arthritis. However, as this heals it does become scar tissue and weaker, so have to be careful. I'm 53 so I should've known better-LOL!!
