my 30 days was up last Thursday when I called Friday they said they would send the case worker a email telling her to give me a call with an update. No call so I call them back this morning and still no updates. The girl said the worker has 48 hrs. to call me or they will put me through to a supervisor when I can back on Wed. It's a bunch of bull if you ask me. With unemployment and my pay we barely make the house payment, car payment and car insurance. Then I struggle every week to put a few dollars in the car for gas and to buy what food I can. I send a few bucks to the utilities when I can. If they would just ok the food stamps then I wouldn't have to worry about food. But I bet you any amount of money once it is ok'd and they figure in the unemployment then they will probably take them right back or cut them down to nothing. We are below poverty level now, less than $1,600 a month for a family of 3 and our house payment is $1,088 and the car payment is $455. If I was some crack head on the streets I would be able to walk right in and get food stamps and medical but when the working person needs help they jerk you around. And when I say crack head I am talking about the ones who don't want help to get off the stuff, they just want to get what they can and turn around and sell it for money for drugs. Believe me I know I lived in a neighbor where drug addits would go to the churches and food banks and get boxes of food and bring it to my house to try and sell it for $5 to go and buy crack. If you left something out side over night they would steal it and bring it back to you the next day and try to sell it back to you. These are the types of people the system seems to work for the fastest and the heck with everyone else. These are only my views and I don't expect others to agree or disagree with me I just wanted to vent a little. 1|1|i beleive i would call and asked for a supervisor tell them your family is going hungry |lydzkydz|lydzmcss@yahoo.com|10:21:26|10/26/2009|

I suggest it is time to rattle some cages and request a hearing. Go into the office and tell them what has (NOT) happened so far and that you know that you have the right to a fair hearing and you want one ASAP! They have hearing judges who will do them by phone, but I really think they will just magically find the time to deal with your case and they will work out the food stamp amount and then be able to stop the hearing from even happening.

$455 for a car payment is really high. Is there anything you can do to get rid of it? Sell the car and buy a beater?

plus we just put new tires on this past Jan. and new break pads and rotors a couple of months ago. I'am trying to figure out a bundle package for the cable, internet and phone to save money there. We have 4 cells with Verizon and the last contract is up in Dec. so will probably have to wait until then to do that. 5|4|my caseworker did call a little bit ago|crenchen|crenchen@aol.com|17:03:41|10/26/2009|

and said my case was under review and she would call me in a couple of days with the decision so hopefully there will be some relieve in sight. 6|4|Cancel the three cell phone accts that are no longer under contract, keep the one for now until the contract is up, or keep that one if it is cheaper than having a landline phone....would that work? Also, maybe right now cable isnt a priority, keep the internet of course so you can continue to trade here to help with saving money on groceries, etc. :)|saint6811|waylan@comcast.net|17:07:10|10/26/2009|

I know when I set up my internet last time I had to agree to a year contract to get $40 a month for extremely basic cable (basic as in what used to be TV) and internet. So if there is a contract she might not be able to cancel it without still owing a bunch of fees.

I'm glad the worker finally called you. I hope you get some relief soon! 8|6|Ah, that's true.....I've had the same cable and internet so long, I guess I forgot I had a contract to start with, lol|saint6811|waylan@comcast.net|17:15:02|10/26/2009|

the last phone contract is up in Dec. I have one, hubby has one, my dad has one and my daughter has one. Here's is the last one on contract. So will have to get rid of at least one of those because if hubby gets a job he will be on the road and I take mine with me to work so they need one at home being my dad is 85 and daughter is 8. Now I know her being only 8 she didn't need a phone, but it costs only $10 a month and she has had it for 2 years and it was a christmas gift because she was going to be responsible with it and she is. I think it is $25 for my dad's plus my hubby's lap top card is included in the bill. If we cancel that then we get charged $150 but he will need it if he gets a job soon as the lap top is his only entertainment when he is on the road. But if we can budle together cable, internet and house phone then we can drop dad's and Sabrina's phone and that would be cheaper all the way around. But have to wait until Dec. to do any of it right now. Just getting the foodstamps and medical will be a big relief right now that way I don't have to take bill or gas money every week to buy food. So I hope she has good news when she calls and I get them by sometime next week. 10|8|Just to clarify does your dad live with you???|Kristy|mi3zons1@yahoo.com|20:37:27|10/26/2009|

do you have any soup kitchens or food banks in youor area, alot of time you do not even have to prove you need it so the hassle is not there. it is a good idea to look into while you are struggling, even with the food stamps.

sorry :(.
