She's a doll... and blankets for the pregnancy center (that you know who makes.lol We also buy cheap baby food or free to donate them to the pregnancy centers. We also pick up freebies for our church families and pantry. As for handing out money.. Yes, sometimes but it has always been men coming up by the car window and I absolutely hate that. I don't mind giving while I'm walking or as a family, but when you come up to the car. I get very uneasy because you don't know people's mindset these days... and if they want to buy alcohol or drugs w/it.. So be it! It's on them. They will have to give an account one day not me. My motives are purely to help and their are truely alot of people out their hurting. I'm sure we gave to needy people and drug addicts alike but I won't stop giving because people have wrong motives because I can not tell them apart..

i try to help out others in need
usually don't have many street people here
they can go to the hostel of good shepherd if they need shelter
i do donate items for that when i our church collects
and i donate for the pregnancy center when our church collects also

If someone asks for a few dollars for a sandwhich because they are hungry I will go into the store with them and let them pick out a sandwhich or whatever it was they wanted. I do not give them $$ as you dont know what they are really going to use it for. I know where the $$ is going and feel better about giving 8|2|I try to give actual items too. It reads "canned foods plse i'm hungry"..on my way to work I use to always have a bag of canned goods to pass her through my window on the way...definitely someone in need of food. another time a homeless lady was sleeping under a viaduct 2 blks from my home in the summer time, I worked at a cafe at the time and everynight on my way walking home I would stop by her and give her a meal,with a couple cookies as a snack and a couple bottles of cold water, I know she was very grateful to get it and looked forward to seeing me everyday...she use to sit there most times reading a book...thats what got my attention,I felt sorry for her...obviously not a drug addict or alcoholic, just found herself homeless.

my daughter inlaw was getting out to eat somewhere...and a man ask her for $......she told him i wont give u $ but i will buy u something to eat......he walked in with her.....and she said he ordered the most expensive thing on the menu.....LOL i told her.....next time...just go in ..buy a burger or something and hand it to them........
my mom used to own a motel in our small town.........the benelvilent (spelling probably wrong) used to bring people,familys..there and put them up for the night....buy a meal for them....and give them a tank of gas........i ran this motel for about 2 yrs......ive seen them put people up and feed them.......and me be sitting in the office and see the same people walk to the store and buy cigs and lottery tickets after telling these people they were broke and heading to family and ran out of money..and such
there was never a holiday.....while my mom owned the motel.......that we didnt feed a family or two...for thanksgiving or christmas........before everyone of us started eating.....we would always
fix plates for ever how many people that was supposedly...broke.......some probably was........some wasnt......
