i got a bill today that i thought i had paid now the bill is doubled i went and checked and i didnt send it in im under so much stress im about to blow up now one month before christmas and i have a double bill good grief i am so stupid and now we will all pay for my stupidity

And so has my mom. Just last month she forgot to pay her phone bill so this past month it was double. She had written out the check, even marked on the outside that she'd paid it & date pd., but there the check was inside the envelope, unpaid.
What I do now is when I get my bills, I write in red on the outside of each bill when it's due, such as "Due 10/15/09". Immediately AFTER I've paid it (not the date I write the check, but when it's actually been paid or mailed), I write on the outside of each bill's envelope the date I've paid/mailed it, such as "Pd. 10/13/09". It's important for me to write that info w/in minutes after I've paid/mailed it so I don't forget to write it on it. LOL It might seem kind of anal but it works really well for me cuz I don't have to sort thru my stack of rec'd mail or go thru each envelope to know if I've paid this or that bill; I can see it right on the outside of each bill's envelope. :)

the gas company FORWARDED (with my persmission) it to the electric company for me
the electric company.. said " we never got the gas bill or any envlope form you " so i had late fees on that also..
lol
since then.. i go ahead and do something like MaraJ does..
but this time.. i got stressed out.. trying to work out "life" and wrote on there and never mailed it..
NOT TO MENTION! (but i have too , lol)
i have the $15 tombstone check sitting there with it that is made out to my cable company (the one is is overdue now SHEESH!)

We're trying to manage our households, take care of ourselves & our loved ones w/errands, groceries & appts. to juggle & remember, not to mention some working outside the home. If we had bills that were all due the same date of every month it might help but in my case, the due dates are varied throughout the month. They do this as a "favor" to us so a big chunk isn't taken out of 1 paycheck. However, it there's only 1 check a month coming in, it makes no difference. LOL But even if they were all due on the same date, I'm sure one would still play hide & seek w/me. LOL
