For example, would an xray be able to reveal a blood clot in the leg, such as DVT - Deep Vein Thrombosis?

I don't think a regular xray would show it, I think you would have to do an ultrasound. Here's a link about DVT and tests they can do. I had a blood clot in my leg years back and they found it with an ultrasound. Hugs, Rebekka

I had an xray done on my lower leg/ankle area Mon. cuz I've had an aching in the bone area directly above my ankle, on the outer part of my leg, since about Fri. The weird part is that my ankle area is swollen yet my ankle itself doesn't ache, just the bone area right above it aches & is very tender if I press on it. There is no bruising, redness or other marks to show if I might have inadvertantly bumped it on something, & I don't recall doing anything like that or twisting it. They did give me an air splint to wear & it does seem to feel better when I'm wearing it. I worry about DVT cuz I get Depo Provera shots for medical reasons & there is somewhat of a history of strokes/blood clots in my family, not fatal ones tho, & I don't want to be the 1st! LOL

They can do it but requires an injection of contrast media. It's rather old school now. Having an US is more safe and detailed.

I'm not any help with that question. Only with questions about x-ray depts.
