To sum this up as quick as possible, Amy had her ceiling in the living room collapse from pipes bursting in the upstairs condo in August. Insurance company great, condo association not so great. Insurance company has had them in a nice 2 bedroom apt. since then and condo assoc. has been extremely ridiculous. Black mold all thru the condo, personal belongings ruined though some were taken out immediately. The hired guy in charge of the association has a problem with my SIL so he has been nasty. While he was in the hospital this happened, Amy & Anthony went before the board and they approved, he got out of the hospital and put a hold on everything. The job was going out for bids and the lowest bid started, happens to be a friend of Anthony's, it was back to approved. The guy, Bob, in charge decided to override it AGAIN and stopped in to tell the guy working that he would be paid for what he did but it was going back out for bids again. He asked him if he understood that Anthony had a little boy and he said he did not care. Meanwhile, Amy has to go back to the insurance company for more rent money and time, which she got. They got a call Sat night that kids broke into the condo and started a bonfire on the living room floor. When they heard the fire sirens, they ran. The place has been gutted before, mostly by Anthony trying to get it ready to fix, so no real damage done but OMG, it looks abandoned so ripe for kids to break in to have a party.
The police took Anthony over to the President of the Association's condo and informed him that they have been jerking A&A around long enough, because of not cutting the check that they have to anyway, the association has now put the lives and property of the other people that live there in jeopardy. They have been advised to sue which Amy doesn't want to do, she just wants to go home.
I talked to a policeman in my town last night about this and he said the police can go ahead and take care of his for them as it is now also a town problem so this stupid fire was probably a lucky thing for them to have happened. Gee, I wonder if that guy Bob has a job today.

and he heard a noise at the back door, he ran around and caught, after a chase, a guy who was trying to steal his tools. The guy tried throwing some type of power tool battery pack at Anthony, which he dodged and ran. Anthony caught him, the guy kicked him, Anthony punched him and the guy gave up. He told Anthony he was a homeless Heroin addict, Anthony flagged down the police and he is still down at the station now. Looks like maybe it wasn't kids Saturday night. If that manager guy doesn't get w/it, maybe the association people need a visit from the Health & Safety Dept. They'd possibly be looking at some very stiff penalties & the association would then be ordered to either get the work done & up to code, w/in a certain amount of time (which would then be re-inspected by the H & S Dept.) or face the risk of it being condemned.
W/everything that's been happening, I have to admit that I wouldn't want to go back there. Mold is NASTY stuff. :(
I'll be praying for your daughter & her dh that things get resolved for them one way or the other, & as safely & quickly as possible. :)
