edited to add: some programs are BUGs and don't even show up in the ADD/REMOVE
computor program.. so this Malwarebyte's program comes in handy at times.

He says the AVG box is legit & that it's likely detecting a virus w/one of the links on the page I'm trying to access. When I do a search for something, the search engine (google) brings up a page w/a list of several sites w/links, & AVG is detecting that one of those sites/links has a virus, so not the page itself, just one of the sites/links listed on that page. So.... he said altho it's safe to continue to the next page, just be careful of which link I click on. HTH. :)

This isn't an ad that pops up but a pinkish AVG dialogue box & it is legit, but it's a warning that's just letting AVG users know that there is a link to a site on the page that does have a virus. When you do a search, ever notice the green stars w/a white check mark on the right side of the blue link to a site? That's AVG, but unless you have the paid-for AVG, it isn't able to tell you anything more, thus the pink dialogue box (at least letting you know one of the links/sites is bad, just not which one) so you just have to be careful w/which link you click on.

so I called my pc tech back & told him that. He insists that the AVG notices are legit, saying the one I seen on Yahoo was because AVG detected there could be a virus in that ad. My tech said that there may not necessarily be a virus, per se, but that my AVG is definitely detecting something amiss (virus, spyware/adware, etc.) so is warning me not to click on that ad & to be careful w/the site links that come up in my searches. It's just like when you run AVG to scan your computer, it'll detect that some of those coupon things (that we download in order to be able to print certain coupons) are bad. They're not a virus but are actually a form of spyware so AVG finds them as it detects that.
I haven't seen another AVG notice while in Yahoo since then, but I'd forgotten all about it til today.

I got the same thing and opened it. It made my computer unusable. Ended up taking it to my computer guy that took him a whole day to undo. Apparently this is going around since my computer was not the only one that received this "thing".
