Ok i sold an item, had insurance placed on it. Item arrived broken instead of taking to po and placing a claim which is what the insurance is for they placed a dispute on paypal against me. What action should i take. They want a refund. I plainly state i do not accept refunds. I insure all my items so that if something arrives broken they will be reimbursed and no one is out. My opinion is that they should file a claim with the po as that is what the insurance is for am i not correct in assuming so???

Someone care to give me there input

1|1|I think they should file a claim at the post office, if you've stated no refunds but you did put insurance on it, then they need to head over to the po and tell them~*~|RebekkaVA|queen_vulture@msn.com|21:00:17|10/05/2009|

5|2|Paypal will refund their money|Beaglesfly|lmllr77@aol.com|11:50:53|10/06/2009|

Insurance or not, ebay and paypal believe the seller is responsible for the item until it reaches the buyer. They will tell the buyer to return the item (they pay return shipping I believe) and if they return it with proof of delivery (d.c.), they will be refunded their money. IF they are just trying to scam you, and the item isn't actually broken, they may back off when they learn that they have to return the item to get their money back.

Sure, the person should go to the post office and file a claim, but paypal has made it so easy for them to file with them and get their money back, it's quite possible they won't do you the courtesy of filing the claim.

Just so you know for the future Jennifer, if you take paypal, you absolutely take returns. Ebay tells you that you can put "no returns" in your listing, but paypal will override it every single time. And if they refund the buyer, and you don't have funds in your paypal account to cover it, they will take it from your secondary funding source - tough luck if it overdraws your account and sends you into the negative....they don't give a hoot.

Email me if you have any other questions. I frequent the discussion boards on ebay, and I've learned a lot about what a lowlife business ebay and paypal have become.

I would still ask the person to take it to the post office and file a claim, maybe they filed with paypal just to be safe. But if they refuse, you will have to refund their purchase price and initial shipping. You won't have to refund the return shipping.
