Did anybody hear about this? My friend's mother went to got the flu shot today, and her doctor gave her the "seasonal" flu shot but told her she couldn't get the swine flu one, due to a government mandate that it goes to younger people first. She went to another health care center and still couldn't get it.

I did a quick search and found a link on a senior citizen site that talks about it:

Check out my site at http://susieed.tripod.com/

Thanks, Sue Edelmann

Who will be recommended to receive the 2009 H1N1 vaccine?

CDC’s Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) has recommended that certain groups of the population receive the 2009 H1N1 vaccine when it first becomes available.
These target groups include:
1. pregnant women
2. people who live with or care for children younger than 6 months of age
3. healthcare and emergency medical services personnel
4. persons between the ages of 6 months and 24 years old
5. people ages of 25 through 64 years of age who are at higher risk for 2009 H1N1 because of chronic health disorders or compromised immune systems.

If you know someone that is diabetic, they are also included on the list, especiall the elderly!!!

5|1|The first round of available vaccines are intended for those who would most likely be exposed and would infect others (school age children, health care workers, those at high risk with other chronic health factors)....seniors generally dont have the exposure (those that live at home) like others (school children, college students, health care workers).|saint6811|waylan@comcast.net|16:35:46|09/26/2009|

A government big enough to give you everything you want, is strong enough to take everything you have.
--Thomas Jefferson--

You cannot build character and courage by taking away people's initiative and independence.
You cannot help people permanently by doing for them, what they could and should do for themselves.
