she goes and when she got home I was on the couch and I heard her and the driver coming up the path and I got up and as I was turning the corner by the sofa towards the door I look up to see my Mom falling sideways I open the door to see the driver coming from the right and she gets to my Mom about a second before me My Mom fell getting up on the stoop by our front door I go in and call 911 I come out and the driver tells me where my Mom is hurting I told my Mom I called and they are coming after I talked to my Mom a bit the driver asked if she could leave now as she still had people to get home I told her yes leave after she does Mom tells me that the driver walked her to the stoop put a bag of goodies down that my Mom won and walked away my Mom thought the girl was behind her and stepped up on the stoop but it was raining and she slipped I was so ticked I got on the phone and called Gary and I told him what happened and I told him the B had walked away from my Mom the driver heard me and stopped pulling of the concrete and she stayed about a min and then cntinued out
Mom seems to be ok exept for a skin tear on her arm and is very very sore They kept her tonight and will see how things go in the am She was so scraed and so was I can you please keep her in your prayers thanks 1|1|T you should call whoever the driver/transport place is and say something|petunia1|sweetpea39@comcast.net|20:51:43|09/23/2009|

what she did was not right, sounds like she is impatient and didnt want to wait until your mom was all the way in. what if she was seriously hurt, what would she have done then?!!!!

and...you finally get your mom to go and this happens :(.
2|2|oh I called before I went to the hospital the girl who answered is teh girl who runs the center and she tried saying Oh how is she|teener|teenerzacsneenee@yahoo.com|21:20:36|09/23/2009|

I told her I didn't know at that point as I was waiting for a ride and she said she was going to talk to the driver I told her she better as you shouldn't have a driver who doesn't know how to handle seniors who walk with walkers and how they shouldn't be left till they were up any stairs that they may have to go up 3|3|Problem is they cant find people to take these jobs |petunia1|sweetpea39@comcast.net|11:20:06|09/24/2009|

and when they do, they are usually not trained well enough. Hopefully, the girl learned her lesson (unfortunate that it was with your mom - or anyone's mom for that fact)

It will be interesting to see what the girl does if she comes back to your place again

glad mom is OK 4|1|not to change the subject but how is the doggie|petunia1|sweetpea39@comcast.net|11:31:35|09/24/2009|

As we age we are less stable on our feet and bruise so easily. So sorry about your mom.

this woman could run circles around you, thought she would always be like that but see the difference as she ages. worked in a nursing home with her as a teen and let me tell you, we worked!!! my sister's and I still laugh about it. My younger sister worked in the kitchen, she knew better...LOL..But the patients got great care and boy did we learn work ethics :-D
7|2|in Pa the driver gets paid but the service is free|petunia1|sweetpea39@comcast.net|11:49:20|09/24/2009|

so usually minimum wage, service comes from tax payer funds (and I am OK with that) 9|1|Poor Nana :( She just can't catch a break.....how is she today, pal?? It's good you called right away and let the director know what happened...hopefully the center will take this as an opportunity to do some training with ALL the drivers and staff!|saint6811|waylan@comcast.net|16:05:56|09/24/2009|

will be going to see her tonight she says she is still a lil sore but alot better she's only had one does of pain meds unfortunetly I think she is done with the center she was haveing such issues with going back but came to the conclusion that she felt better going but now she is talking like she has gone back under her rock:( The drivers they have now are volenteers the last time she used to go they had a contract with the red cross who had handicap equipt buss's after this she'll have to have the visiting nurse come back if she has problems getting around as you can't go to the center and have a nurse at the same time She does pay for it in the way of a yearly dues and she also pays $2 a meal thanks for all your prayers 12|2|I'm glad to hear she's ok from the fall, but it is sad that she doesnt have the 'trust' in the center to feel like she can go anymore...I know she wavered on going back but was doubting whether she could do it, now she probably feels like she can't do it without risks to her safety. :( I just have to wonder why the center would have drivers for people they know need physical assistance with getting in and out of the vehicle, as well as in and out of their homes and the center....seems they could/should look into having at least one van with trained drivers (like a CNA) who could recognize the needs and meet them. But I digress...|saint6811|waylan@comcast.net|17:02:01|09/24/2009|
