Ok, so all weekend my son goes outside and plays, spends the night with friends, and does the typical 11 yr old things. Come Monday morning he's sick. Not literally sick but when I go in and tell him to get dressed he tells me he doesn't feel good. Of course, if there's no fever or throwing up I make him go to school. Last year I took him to the doctor and he was diagnosed with a small bout of acid reflux; however, this is not the case lately. He was put on meds for acid reflux but it was a 10-day dose only. He probably goes into the restroom 2 to 3 times before leaving for school. I usually make him breakfast every morning which is usually consists of bacon and either cinnamon rolls, toast, or waffles. Sometimes he eats, sometimes he doesn't. I've asked if there is anything going on at school and he says no. He says he's not nervous about junior high anymore (this is his first year in jr high). I'm at a loss. Any suggestions? 1|1|stay firm and be supportive but make him go to school|petunia1|sweetpea39@comcast.net|12:57:00|09/14/2009|

if he gets away with it once then you'll have a hard time getting him to go.my kids knew they would be going even if their leg was falling off..that's what Duct tape is for!!!

I would try sitting down with him and see what is going on, maybe he just generally does not like school but explain to him he has to go, has no choice. ask him what you can do to make things easier or better. maybe if you come up with a game plan togehter things will be better.

on the acid reflux thing, ask him if it is bothering him and take him back to the docs if it doesnt get better. my nepheew had this issue and finally got sdome relief after repeated attempts for treatment. I told my sister it was more than "looking for attention" as the DOc put it IDOT!!! the kid ended up having surgery! 2|2|I think Debi hit all the nails on the head.....excellent advice (and I ROFL about the duct tape, lololol)|saint6811|waylan@comcast.net|13:42:04|09/14/2009|

did your nephew have? My daughter has had stomach aches after eating for about 3 years. It got really bad this past July. She was eating only ramen noodles since that was the only thing that wasn't hurting her. So we trampled back to the Dr's. He is trying her on Prilosec for 12 weeks, citing excess stomach acid. In my daughter's case, it started to get better at the beginning but now is almost as bad as before.

I am curious about what type of surgery you are talking about. I agree-it's NOT for attention-no way. Stupid Dr's all saying it's "normal" to feel this way after you eat-What???!! Something is wrong and its getting worse. We went to two dr's about this over a 3 year period and this is the first time they are even trying to find out why.

BTW, symptoms are bloating, stomach pain, urgent bathroom but usually constipated. She was tested for food allergies but came up negative (about 8 months ago). She's taking gassy pills, lactaid when she eats cereal and her prilosec. Maybe someone can give me some ideas as to what this could be. This is an every day thing and she is suffering with it. She cancels going out with friends and stays around the house, doesn't want to run around or anything because she's always feeling bad. Dr says no blood, no problem but I don't agree.

Any ideas anybody??

the constipation can be from the acid medication and not eating because her tummy hurts. try doing a softer type diet. will she eat oatmeal or cream of wheat in the AM, that may help. drink lots of water, no soda or fizzy drinks.

Nephew actually had acid burns in the esophagus from the acid coming back up. hyatial hernia (at the entrance to the stomache).

look for a gastric specialist in your area. I could be acid, but if she is having issues for this long she does need to be checked

good luck!

In the meantime, we'll hold off on the breads, cereals and pasta and see if that helps.

Thanks for replies....
