had the most terrible experience in your Target tonight. i printed off some coupons from Target site from an email alert i got from target.i took the coupons in the store went Thur got everything i was suppose to get per coupon .went to the register got everything out.they man rang everything up and then asked if i had any coupons i gave him the coupons he then took everything out of the bags and put each coupon with each product to make sure i got everything. then he went to taking the coupons off.i had three coupons i had was over the cost of the products he went and got a manger and the manger told me they would not honor your own coupon because it was over the cost of the product. she told me i had to buy a bigger size we look the store didn't carry a bigger size .being a single mom i watch my Penny's i was very disappointed that the manger would not honor there own coupons and she was very rude about it. then to beat all instead of the cashier taking only the products off i didn't want cause they wouldnt honor the coupons he void the transaction and everything had to be unbagged then re-rang . then after he rang it all up bagged it he then went to unbagging it and placing the coupons with each item again. I'm like look you know i got everything you done did that is it necessary to do it again . he then got rude and said yes. then after being there another 10 minutes the manger came back over i asked her if she could take over i would like to get out of the check out lane in less then an hour she got rude and walked away .it took me 42 minutes to check out and i had 10 items i only had 14 to begin with and it took him 17 minutes before he got a manger to ring those up. it was terrible i wasted my time paper and ink to print there coupons and they wouldnt take them ... 1|1|well|joseph|parkerjoe3@yahoo.com|23:16:11|09/07/2009|

if you want to spend more time on this i would call target. the main company and complain. now we all know about this and if i ever get cpns for target i'll no what to do. i don't really like target anyway to expensive. tell them also you told a bunch a people on this site and now they probably won't shop there. 2|1|i hate target. they have a really bad coupon policy and i no longer shop there unless i really have to|ppe1952|MATWELL3@ROCHESTER.RR.COM|08:32:44|09/08/2009|

i have had some really bad experiences and your is just another example of bad policies. i have had the same experiences with coupons even if the coupon had no size limits. i have no trouble anywhere else. walmart, wegmans etc, no problems.

Remember your manners: when god answers your prayers----- say thank you. 3|2|Target does annoy me with taking coupons (or lack of taking them)|petunia1|sweetpea39@comcast.net|10:02:36|09/08/2009|

I just dont bother anymore, as you said, it is your time, effort and $$ wasted printed them off.

I had a bad experience at Kohls with a coupon last week. same thing girl was rude. Managers really dont care so you do need to call in to the corporate number. you would thinkin today's economy stores would bend over to get you to come back.

IMO, Target's proces really are not that cheap compared to Walmart or other store sales so I just go there. If everyone started doing it you would see stores change their attitude..fast! 4|1|please do call the corporate office|msallen|m-sallen@juno.com|11:46:35|09/08/2009|

Target's coupon policy is that they will adjust the price of a coupon down to the actual price of the item. That is what they will tell you if you call, so the store manager was WRONG. I would also give it one more try after you call (and make sure to have the corporate phone # handy when you go). I have heard of others needing to call corporate while they are at the checkout to have the manager "retrained" in the store coupon policy. A pain in the butt, to be sure, but they didn't have problems after that.

So sorry that you had such a bad experience- wish you could shop at my Target instead. I rarely get any hassles. 5|2|I have called corporate, had a name and number and still had a store manager tell me no|whitmarg|robin@whitmannet.com|12:24:28|09/08/2009|

I'd like to share with you some information about our coupon policy. When accepting coupons, we use the following guidelines:

- We accept two kinds of coupons: Target-issued and manufacturer-issued.
- We'll accept one Target coupon and one manufacturer coupon for the same item, unless either coupon prohibits it.
- We can't give cash back if the face value of a coupon is greater than the purchase value of the item; in this case, we're able to adjust the value of the coupon to equal the price of the item.
- We can't accept coupons from other retailers, or coupons for products not carried in our stores.
- All valid coupons should be presented to the cashier while you're checking out.

Also, the team members' attitude and behavior you described isn't part of our guest service philosophy. We expect our team members to help you in a professional manner. Hearing your comments is very important to us, and I’ve shared them with the Fields Ertel Target Store Leadership team for further review.

and they do take customer service seriously.

if I run across a stupid clerk, I just tell them to ring me up best they can and then I take my stuff, receipt and coupons to customer service to correct the transaction. I have never had a problem.

I am glad you got a satisfactory reply back, OP. Hope you try them again and they do better for you. If not, surely give the manager and corp a call.
