They support themselves and they seem like a wholesome family, unlike a lot of other families today (although I will admit that I've only seen the show a few times myself). Reality show mega-family The Duggars just announced on 'Today' that they are adding a new face to the family, their 19th child.
Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar, who along with their brood star on TLC's '18 Kids and Counting,' appeared on the NBC morning show with their whole family to deliver the news. They told Meredith Vieira they're "so excited about our new arrival." Michelle, 42, is 3 months along in the pregnancy.
In a fun set of circumstances, the new baby will have a niece that is OLDER than him or her. Oldest son Joshua James and his wife Anna are expecting a daughter, to be named Mackynzie Renee, in October.

I think it takes a special family to be able to raise that many. My mom and dad both come from 11 kids, one the oldest and the other one of the youngest. I loved having so many cousins when I was a kid

It's ridiculous to say that the parents are raising 18 -- soon to be 19 -- kids.
The older children are raising their younger siblings. Plain and simple. And totally wrong.
There isn't a parent in the world who could give 18 kids the individual attention any child deserves.
I think the Duggars are beyond selfish. They want to have a gazillion kids but they don't have to raise them all.

There are people and probably some on this board who don't think I should have seven. I've gotten rude and nasty comments from people because of the amount of kids I have. If they want to have three dozen kids it's between them and God.

Like she says you love all your brothers & sisters, but there's never any privacy & you never have anything that is yours. Everything from clothes to toys are handed down. So you learn real quick that whatever you do you will not be able to do it alone nor do you ever ask for anything special as there's usually never any money for that as it would not be something to hand down, so it's a no no!

First of all, with that many children, the parents most likely don't spend much time alone with one child, so they would have to make a date just to spend a day with one child. Also, besides the older children watching the younger ones, they also have to do other chores - cooking, cleaning, wash clothes, etc., and I'm sure they don't have much of a social life either or time with their friends. So yes, these parents are being selfish giving the older children so many responsibilities. However, God bless them for raising a healthy, well-adjusted family in today's chaotic world. I often got remarks about my kids being so spaced out. I was pushing one in a stroller while on college visits.
My daughter is already getting remarks about hers being so close together.
Sorry we don't all fit into a nice little box. There are no perfect families, we all have our issues no matter how many kids we have.

It just reminds me of that book The Prize Winner of Defiance Ohio. Have any of you read it or saw the movie? She had 10 kids and was a contester in the 1950's. I think she would have been one of us if she were still alive now.
