put one in this year..hadn't had one for a number of years though as with 2 special needs girls I couldn't do it till now.
It is a lot of work, but well worth it! Nothing beats the taste of home grown veggies..fresh or home canned. Once you try home canned, you will HATE store bought stuff. it might seem like a lot of work in the beginning, but after awhile it becomes much easier. I plant a large one, do 99.9 percent of it by myself. Actually even dug mine by hand this year because I was impatient to get the tiller running. I have never had problems with birds, bunnies yes, so I fence the things they like to eat. It all depends on where you live, and what your soil is like whether you have problems or not.
