or at least every time I've gone it has been. It's because of "fitting" you for contacts...extra steps in the exam...extra cost.

Just a "heads up" on that.

5|3|I've been wearing contacts for 22 yrs, not a single problem....but I take really good care of them, keep them clean, change them as recommended, and NEVER sleep with them in....if someone went blind from the contacts themselves it must have been an extremely unusual reaction to them, I've never heard of that :O|saint6811|waylan@comcast.net|20:21:16|08/28/2009|

Oh no!
Say it's not true!
I would not do well as a secret agent. My captors could simply TELL me they were going to put in contact lenses....I would tell them any and all I knew. 12|9|LOL! :D|saint6811|waylan@comcast.net|16:19:15|08/30/2009|

I have a severe astigmatism and was not able to wear contact lenses until about 10 years ago. I was so excited when the eye doctor said he thought rigid, gas permeable lenses would work for me. Had no trouble at all inserting them, cleaning & disinfecting, etc. Shortly after getting them, I was at a funeral for the father of my longtime boss when a lense popped off my eye! So, here I am sitting in a pew in the middle of the service, can't see much of anything with only one lense, trying to find the missing lense without moving too much and drawing attention to myself. I found the lense inside my bra. I leaned over to the male co-worker (and good friend) that drove the two of us to the funeral home and asked him to cover me while I leaned over and fished it out of my cleavage. :) Thank goodness he drove because I did not have any disinfecting solution with me and had to wait until we got back to the office to clean and reinsert my lense. The second time it happened, I was shopping in Michaels craft store on my lunch break. I ended up on my hands and knees looking for the stupid thing, and luckily I found it. I had to drive back to the office with one hand covering the bad eye. Shortly after that, I was diagnosed with rosacea which can also cause very dry eyes. No amount or brand of rewetting solution would keep the lenses comfortable enough to wear all day, so I gave up.
