Took him to vet on Wed., they said he had the flu, gave him a shot & fluids & sent him home. Yesterday he was no better, so called & took him back. They kept him & today they said they don't think it's the flu, his kidney's & sugar levels are elevated. Running 2 more tests & will call me back in another hour or so to let me know. I'm heartbroken, I really can't afford this type of treatment but we love him & can't let him go without. I'm betweeen a rock & a hard spot. Will just take it as it comes & do the best I can, I hope. I just pray that's it's something that can be treated, as I'm lost without him. I'm crying now, as I'm so afraid that we will have to make a decision that will kill me. He's only 2 so he's just a baby still.

The vet is completely baffled, thinking acute kidney problems or diabetes. They called & said to come get him, thought he'd do better at home since I can do what they can right now. He is on a bland diet & I have to call on Monday & set another appt. for him on wed. for the blood tests to be redone, so they can see if they have gone lower. He is just laying on his blanket & won't move nor eat. I wrapped up $300 this week on him with no results. It's so sad to see the former Mighty Dog as we called him as he was always running & jumping or bouncing & now all he does is sleep. If it
s one of these, medicine can take care of it, if not, then we will go from there. I just keep going into his room & crying. I hate to see him so sad.

my cat lost weight and acted like that and he was diabetic. they gave him ivs because he was dehydrated and put him on insulin and hes doing ok now

As long as he's at least drinking some water he should be ok. If you can, can you use a spoon to hold some water to his mouth so he can drink it that way? Sometimes when they're not feeling well, a little encouragement & spoiling seems to help motivate them a little bit. ;)

I did take him out & he did go to bathroom. He's not touched his food & really don't think he's touched his water. He hasn't had a bite since Monday. He was on IV's all day Fri. until this morning, when the vet sent him home. So I figure he got lots of water at the vet since they said they flushed his kidneys. I don't know, he just worries me to death as I feel that I just don't know what to do. Guess, I'll find out Mon., might have to take him back then if he doesn't eat. The vet told me that he wouldn't eat for them either, that's one of the reasons he sent him home, he thought he'd eat for us. No such luck. Will keep offering it. Might even pry his mouth open to try to get a few bites down him if I have to.

I've tried to give it to him by hand & he just turns his head & looks so sad. He's so pathetic. I'm to give him 1 TBsp. 4 times a day but he just won't touch it. I'm so afraid that we are going to lose him, since he won't eat. I just hope that they figure out what is going on in time to help him & that I can afford whatever the care is that he needs. I don't have $2 or $3 hundred dollars every week for tests & such. We live on a pension check, so money is not that plentiful. I'm just going to do what I can & hope things work out. If it's doggie God's will, he will save him & I guess if not, I have to deal with it.

Still won't eat. I took him out & his little back legs wobbled so much that he could hardly stand & do his business. He just set down & looked at me like what is wrong with you why won't you help?? Will call vet first thing in the morning & see what they want to do. You'd think for $300 they could tell you something. I keep wondering if it's not an intestional bug, as I've been fighting something intestional for over a week now. I can't eat anything without getting sick or it comes right out & I'm bloated, my stomaches upset & my back is hurting terrible. I'm going to mention this to them tomorrow as I just read that dogs can catch flu like humans. Also read where grapes are toxic to dogs & I know he ate some last Sat. as baby was sharing with him. I never thought anything about it until I read an article on the internet about grapes & raisins being toxic. I feel so sorry for him, he just lays there & looks at me. I do know that he was drinking this morning,so he is getting some liquids.Hopefully tomorrow we will know something before it's to late. He just moans & groans when you lift him & I was just rubbing his stomache as he loves it & he was jerking like it was hurting him.

There is something in the skin of grapes & raisins that is toxic & their little digestive systems can't process it. Nuts (of any kind) can also pose a problem to some small dogs so should also be avoided.

Son woke me up at 1 a.m. & said he was acting strange. I went in & looked & he was stretched out on his belly with his back feet out & his stomach felt like it was all bloated, when you tried to lift him, you could tell it hurt. I put him on the heating pad thinking he had a stomach ache & at 2 son came in & said he was crying. So checked him again & he was laying on his side like a limp doll. Picked him up & he just flopped. Called vet & took him in, no temp. but he said he was shocky & his gums were gray colored. Gave him a shot for the shockiness & hooked him up to IV's. Said to call this morning around 8:30, & they'd know more. Don't understand how one minute he cold be fine & the next down like this.
